Italian club Torino have provided updates on the injury situation of versatile Nigeria defender Ola Aina, reports Completesports.com.
Aina pulled out of Nigeria’s squad for Friday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Pirates of Seychelles and friendly encounter against the Pharaohs of Egypt citing injury as the reason for his action.
Concerns were however raised on his decision to boycott both games as he featured for Torino in last Sunday’s home clash against Bologna which they lost 3-2.
He was sent off deep into stoppage time in the game for dissent and showed no sign of discomfort before he bagged the red card.
The defender has been suspended for three games and will miss Torino’s next three league games against Fiorentina Sampdoria and Parma.
“Therapies for Ola Aina, who in agreement with our medical staff and that of his national team, will miss Nigeria’s next two games to treat the after-effects of the abdominal rectum (felt in the Torino vs Chievo warm-up),”reads a statement on Torino’s official Twitter handle.
The 22-year-old who is on loan at Torino from English Premier League side Chelsea has featured in 24 league games for Walter Mazzarri’s team this season with a goal to his name.
