Everton are reportedly on the verge of signing midfielder Jean Philippe Gbamin from German Bundesliga side Mainz.
The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international will be a like-for-like replacement for Idrissa Gana Gueye in a central holding role after he completed his move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the week.
Gbamin, who moved to Mainz in 2016 from Lens and made 86 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring three goals, is set to move to Goodison Park for a reported £25million-plus.
The transfer is set to be completed over the weekend, with Nantes midfielder Abdoulaye Toure already lined up as his replacement at Mainz. Reports claim the deal for Gbamin could even be finalised before Juventus’ 19-year-old Italy international striker Moise Kean completes his expected £29m switch to the Toffees.
