West Ham have been linked with a move for Atalanta’s Nigerian star forward Ademola Lookman in the January transfer window.
Reports have suggested that the Irons are ready to swoop for Lookman in the January transfer window.
However, according to Football Insider, there will be “huge interest” from across Europe in the 27-year-old.
It is believed that the Hammers will find it difficult to compete for the signature of Lookman as French giants, Paris Saint-Germain will be the frontrunner for the forward if he becomes available in the coming months.
Also, Lookman plays in the same area of the pitch as West Ham’s big-money summer signings Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme.
Lookman raised his stock with his displays for Atalanta since joining from RB Leipzig in 2022.
He was the only African named in the 30-man shortlist for the 2024 Ballon d’Or award where he finished 14th.
His nominations was as a result of his impressive performance for Atalanta where he helped reached the Coppa Italia and Europa League finals.

After losing 1-0 to Juventus in the Coppa Italia final, Lookman took matters into his hands as he bagged a hat-trick to help Atalanta defeat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final of the Europa League.
His feat was the first time ever that a player will score a hat-trick in Europe’s second-tier club competition.
The forward marked the remarkable he had with Atalanta by scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in 45 appearances last season.
He has scored five goals and contributed five assists in 10 games across all competitions this term.
Meanwhile, Lookman is in the running for the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award alongside Super Eagles vice captain William Troost-Ekong.
Other players also in the race for the award include AFCON 2023 winner Serhou Guirassy of Guinea, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco and also South Africas Ronwen Williams.
