Holders Real Madrid will take on Liverpool in this season’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie.
The draw was held today, Monday, 7th November, in Nyon, Switzerland.
Recall, Madrid pipped Liverpool in last season’s final in Paris to secure a record-extending 14th title.
Madrid are unbeaten in their last six meetings with Liverpool, claiming five wins and one draw.
Another interesting fixture in the first knockout round is between Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich.
Both teams clashed in the final of the 2019/20 Champions League which Bayern edged 1-0 thanks to a Kingsley Coman strike.
And in other ties Chelsea will face Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Zaidu Sanusi’s FC Porto will battle, Napoli parading Victor Osimhen will take on Frankfurt, Club Brugge with Raphael Onyedika will square off against Benfica while Manchester City will slug it out with RB Leipzig.
Meanwhile, the first legs will be played on 14, 15, 21 and 22 February, and the second legs will be played on 7, 8, 14 and 15 March 2023.
The 2022–23 UEFA Champions League is the 68th season of Europe’s premier club football tournament organised.
It is the 31st season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs’ Cup to the UEFA Champions League.
This season’s final will be played at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
