Castleford Tigers director of rugby Jon Wells has confirmed the club are closing in on the signing of a new forward. Ben Roberts left the club two weeks ago, while the Tigers have been granted salary cap dispensation following the injury to Luke Gale that still needs to be used.

Wells is obviously refusing to name names at this stage but did confirm a new forward and an outside back are on the radar, with the former set to go through quickly. “As it stands, we are actively looking to bring a forward and an outside back into the club,” Wells revealed.
“The arrival of the forward is likely to happen very quickly, but the addition of another outside back will take a little more time. “As mentioned in ROAR (club magazine), any key additions to the squad need to be right fit for the club in all of the aspects that we consider during our recruitment process.
“We have therefore turned down a couple of players who have been made available to us and remain in discussions with a number of clubs and representatives, both domestic and overseas.”
