American tennis player Frances Tiafoe is optimistic about breaking into the ATP Top 10 rankings.
Currently ranked 20th, Tiafoe is looking to build on his recent success at the Cincinnati Open, where he finished as the runner-up after losing to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner with scores of 7-6(4), 6-2. He aims to perform even better at the 2024 US Open.

As he prepares for his match against fellow American Ben Shelton on Wednesday, August 27, Tiafoe is confident about his chances.
“I’m super excited to be here,” ATP Tour quoted Tiafoe as saying at Flushing Meadows, New York.
“American players have been performing well for a while. It’s great to be among them, but I aim to get closer to where I want to be—in the Top 10. Last week was a positive step toward that.”
Tiafoe has recently revamped his coaching team, parting ways with his longtime coach Wayne Ferreira in December 2023 and Diego Moyano in April 2024.
After a third-round loss to Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon, he appointed David Witt as his new coach in July. Witt, who has previously worked with Jessica Pegula and Venus Williams, has been instrumental in Tiafoe’s development.
“David is very much like me in personality and has instilled a lot of confidence in me,” Tiafoe noted.
“He’s constantly reminding me to believe in myself and focus on each point. He helps me stay even-keeled and maintain composure, preventing moments from becoming bigger than they need to be.”
