Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has been advised by Kadiri Ihana to hire a foreign coach for the Super Eagles whose primary responsibilities must be qualifying for major championships and developing Nigerian football, Completesports.com reports.
Ikhana, a former Nigeria international and onetime Super Falcons Head Voach said in an exclusive chat with Completesports.com that the NFF should contract a foreign coach who is hungry for success and with total commitment to developing Nigerian football.
Ikhana who is a strong advocate for indigenous coaches reiterated that recent issues in the Super Eagles, regarding coaching the top coaching job, has forced him to join the call for the hiring of sound foreign coaches for Nigeria’s two national football teams, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons.

“Honestly, I think we need a good foreign coach who will not only qualify our two senior national teams for major competitions but also be very good in developing coaches and evolving a style of play for Nigeria or reverting to our old style of wing-play and power football,” Ikhana stated.
“He may not necessarily be a big name in football coaching business, but must be one with strong desire for success and growth of the game in Nigeria. Coaches who won us laurels at the international levels in the past were not known names in the world of football but they worked so hard and made names with the Super Eagles.”
Ikhana added: “The likes of Father Tiko, Otto Gloria, Westerhof and Bonfrere Jo were not very popular names until they came to Nigeria and won laurels. These they did because they wanted to succeed and their hard-work paid off. We still have such coaches in Europe. NFF should scout them and contract them to revive our ailing football.

“Young and intellectually sound local coaches should be appointed to work and under study the foreign coach who will also reside in Nigeria. The foreign coach should also be assigned to develop the national teams like the U-23 and home based Eagles. I believe the Super Eagles will fly again if we get the right coach” the onetime CAF Coach of The Year stated.
Ikhana who won bronze as the Head Coach of Super Falcons at 2008 Women’s AFCON in Equatorial Guinea also called for, at least, three years contact for the new expatriate coach with an option of renewal based on performance.

It is the duty of the sports ministry and the nff to set a curriculum for Coach. The coach wil now bring in his instructional materials to achieve his goals. . for the coach to achieve the set objective he must be given the right environment to work. The falcon wil be going to Olympic competition in another one month . Yet most of those ladies are on break in the country. The same thing that happened to the super eagles before the game against south Africa and Benin republic.
If the falcon had reported for a week camping before going on to camp in Europe. That would be improvement in the team before their first game against Brazil.
If the super eagles had reported earlier for camping, they would have gotten a good game in the first half against south africa
The sport ministry and nff don’t have time table and performance grading of teams before a game we talk about conditioning. acclamatising isn’t the same as conditioning in football.
A team can be condition to lose by 1 goal in a friendly so that the next game is a must win game
We all remember the game Benin vs Atlanta Olympics football gold winner in Lagos Benin won 5 : 2 .”.falcon coach dey u s how wil he be in Lagos to camp sef .” The eagles wen to camp immediately and the result is the gold in the Minister’s office.
Nigeria is just thinking of saving money. Dey forgot that the soup way sweet na money make ham .
In those days I no Saudi Arabia wil play friendly with eagles and the money gained from honouring the game goes to the nff board. Dey don’t tell us .
Maybe because of wwww nobody want to do the extra job to earn money. They only look for money from oil to do any things .
Thank god finidi did not approach fifa to get his payment. . Assuming if he was a foreign coach nff wil pay his one year salary in arrears.
I think Sport Minister and NFF must hire a veteran foriegn coach who know African football culture, Super Eagles style of play and Nigeria football culture, also a coach who will revert SE to their classic style of play which depends on wing play, short passes , quick and pace play or holistic and totalitarian football style( that means all players defend when they lose the ball, all of them attack when they keep the ball) ; Swiss coach Saoul Savoy or Herve Renard or Spanish Quoaqin Capparos who play as SE style of play , thoes coaches must be assited by Daniel Amokache , Sylvanus Okpala, Ike Shorounmu who have assited the pass coach Stephen Keshi , they have won with him AFCON. 2013 so they are strong and suitable local coaches who will help the next foriegn coach to success then they will build strong and enormous national team…
