Blackpool have confirmed they are looking to sign Newcastle United striker Elias Sorensen on loan this month. The Denmark Under-21 international has been receiving rave reviews for his performances for Newcastle’s Under-23s this season, with the striker netting 19 times already.
Sorensen recently signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with the Magpies and, with a call-up to Rafael Benitez’s senior side looking unlikely this term, he is set to be sent out on loan.
Reports are claiming a number of clubs from the Championship and League One are interesting in acquiring his services and Blackpool, managed by Terry McPhillips, are the first to show their hand.
On a potential move for the striker, the Tangerines boss told the Blackpool Gazette: “We are interested in him (Sorensen), yes, but so are a number of other clubs so we won’t get too excited about that unless it happens.”
