Super Falcons of Nigeria on Tuesday hammered 2023 World Cup co-host New Zealand 3-0 in their second friendly game in Turkey, Completesports.com reports.
It is the Falcons’ second win in Turkey after edging World Cup debutant Haiti 2-1 last Friday.
Also, Randy Waldrum’s side have now won their last three games.
Goals from skipper Onome Ebi, Jennifer Echegini and Desire Oparanozie, secured the comfortable win for the nine-time African champions.
Onome broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute after nodding in Toni Payne’s cross.

They will open their campaign against Canada on July 21 in Melbourne.

O lord let it continue like this!
May we never go back to the dark old evil days again I pray you lord!
Oparanozie should permanently take the place of Onumonu. She was super awesome in the two matches she played. Very skillful and talented. She will give Asisat a lot of room to operate. Her hold up play is a serious to us I’m the final third.
Finally, a heartwarming headline worthy of a team of Nigeria’s stature.
Hopefully the girls can build on this performance to upset the applecart at the world cup.
Well done!
As long as the attack is the first line of defense. Nothing is impossible.
Good news.
Well done ladies.
Desire is back. We miss you. Ifeoma onumunu has not been up to your level
Echegini and Okoronkwo have brought some added creativity to the team allowing Ajibade and Payne freedom to be more direct and freeing up Alozie to deliver great crosses from the flanks. Her crosses reminds me of Finidi. Pinpoint accuracy that will always cause havoc in opponents six yard box. Not many male players can cross the ball effortlessly with both feet as that young lady does.
It is a great idea to bring Oparanoze back as she will give us better options in attack especially with Asisat getting injured all the time on national duty. Demehin is becoming a revelation in the heart of defense and we have a great goalkeeper in Chiamaka. I think we should just allow the coach to concentrate and do his job until after the WorldCup at least.
I believe the SuperFalcons have a chance against Australia and Canada. Those will be the biggest games of the group stages for us. If we can get favorable results from those games and against Ireland we might be the surprise team of the tournament. Let’s just wish them all the best.
