Nigeria’s Super Falcons moved up eight places from 40th to 32nd in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola women’s world ranking.
The latest ranking was released on Friday and published on the world football governing body’s website.
The Falcons climb in the ranking can be attributed to their impressive showing at the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Despite being ranked the lowest in Group B, that had Australia, Canada and Republic of Ireland, the Falcons finished second to reach the round of 16.
Unfortunately, they got eliminated in the first knockout stage against England, losing 4-2 on penalties after goalless in 120 minutes.

The Falcons were then ranked 10th best team after the conclusion of the tournament.
Tournament newcomers Morocco proved to be one of the revelations where they reached the round of 16 as they jump 14 places to 58th.
Africa’s other two participants at the tournament South Africa moved up nine places to 45th and Zambia climbed to 69th.
Sweden, who finished third, sit at the top of the pile for the first time ever, dethroning the USA who dropped to third.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola women’s world ranking will be published on 15 December 2023.

This is massive!
The highest was in 2004augest and it was 23rd position in the world when female football was still developing and fewer teams competing..
It is unbelievable that the coach who achieved this is not yet sure of his coach.. do we repay hardwork in Nigeria or we support crime and corruption..
Thumbs up Ololoman. Lolz. The coach will be sacked. NFF is a criminal organisation, they should all be jailed.
Ahhh what kinda ranking is this? Which and which countries occupy the other spot in out front that didn’t participate in the WC proper? I expect us to be within 20th position at worst.
I’m curious too o. I was expecting us to be ranked in the neighborhood of 20th. Morocco jumped 14 places and both Zambia and South Africa 9 places, while Nigeria only 8 places. I know this is computer programming, but still… Sweden beating the former number 1, the USA meant they displaced them at the summit.
You guys should not forget that we lost many friendly games prior to world cup, so it is not automatic.
Oloko ask honest and sincere question, do we as a nation reward hardwork or corruption? I know the latter carry the day.
Same way politicians are building purchase capacity of the few corrupt individuals and reducing the purchasing power of our currency.
32nd position is not okay for the 10th best team at the world cup. In fact, we just missed this trophy
