Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo believes the Super Eagles will thrive under interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen.
Having commenced his reign with some positive results, the team defeated Benin 3-0 before playing out a 1-1 draw with Rwanda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
However, speaking with Completesports.com, Ekpo stated that Eguavoen has the capacity and capability to make the Super Eagles a strong force again.

“So far, so good. I want to say Austine Eguavoen has really done well with the Super Eagles based on the two matches the team played against Benin and Rwanda.
“You can actually see that the team has shown more hunger and determination in their play since he took over.” Yes, he’s currently working on an interim basis, but then I believe he deserves to be given the confidence.
“With him, I am confident the Super Eagles will thrive and soar high again.”

There’s no argument
I fully align with Ekpo but can the indigenous coaches really succeed without further trainings? Is the NFF ready to send the coach for more training because as a football fan, I do know coaches like Zinedine Zidane, Coach Ferguson, them Mancini and others go from time to time for refreshers.
In this wise, and should the Super Eagles interim manager be given more time to coaching the lads, refresher courses should be included in the contract details. The simple reason is that it would improve the performance of the team.
NFFfffffff act.
I think if NFF do somethings for local coaches , they will thrive then will make Super Eagles incredible and formidable team which can perform well then can win any match; I think these things as follows: NFF should deal with local coaches specially Eguavoen as they deal with foreign coaches , they should pay him about $ 50000 monthly or as he agreed with NFF, NFF must grant Eguavoen free hand to do any thing to develop SE team , NFF must grant coaches crew and players regularly, NFF can send Eguavoen to have high football courses in Europe to develop his knowledge , NFF must drag from him NFF chairman technical committee post then hire him as SE permanent coach, NFF must deal his assistants as they deal foreigners they should be payed their wages with Dollars, NFF must comabt corruption in their administeration so that this can help Eguavoen to develop SE team…
