Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr says he has a good knowledge of Liberia, his team’s opponent in Friday’s 2022 FIFA Wolrd Cup qualifying match, reports Completesports.com.
The encounter will be played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
“We played them in a home friendly in 2018 and from that team they still have some players. Also, we had the opportunity to watch their three friendly games in June,”Rohr told a virtual press conference monitored by Completesports.com on Thursday.
“They played in Tunisia twice and the one other in Algeria and I had my scout there who watched the games. So during our stay in Austria, Liberia had three games in North Africa.
“They have a team, some of their players are in big clubs so I think we know them a little bit and we already had some video sessions with our players. It is really a good team and we never underrate them or any other teams.”
The German invited two new players (Kingsley Michael and Innocent Bonke) for the game and next Tuesday’s away clash against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.
The former Gabon coach praised the two players and also hinted that the United Kingdom based stars would not be part of the game against Cape Verde.

“For the new players we only have two because others have already been with us. When you talk about Valentine Ozornwafor, Adekunle Adeleke, Chidera Ejuke, they have been with us. The new players are only two, Bonke from Malmo in Sweden andMichael from Bologna,”Rohr added.
“The two players did very well in training, they are both defensive midfielders but for tomorrow’s game their chances are very slim.
“Eight of our players will have to leave after the match against Liberia so they will not be in Cape Verde which means there will be another team for the second game.
“But for the moment we are only focus on the first game. We know for the second game we need other boys that’s why we are happy to have Kingsley and Innocent, they will help us.”
On Why Union Berlin of Germany striker Taiwo Awoniyi was not invited Rohr stated : “There are people calling for Awoniyi while also there are those calling for other players. We can only bring three centre forwards, we already have Osimhen, we have Paul Onuachu, we have Terem Moffi who is doing well in Lorient and we even have Kelechi Iheanacho. So which among these players will I remove for Awoniyi to come in?

You should remove Osimhen for Awoniyi so that some people here will allow us have some Peace….lol
Exactly. Osihmen has not scored any goals this season…..so he is our most “un”in-form CF……LMAOOOo. So he should please make way for the “most inform” Awoniyi. This Rohr is just too inept he cant understand something as basic as that. He should come and learn from Technical Advisers with no license on this forum.
Any player that scores should immediately replace those who didnt on the next list of call-ups. The weeks Awoniyi does not score and one Babasala somewhere scores, Awoniyi’s name be yanked off the list and the Babasala’s name be included with immediate effect….LMAOOoo. Even if our CF positions are filled up, some midfielders and defenders names should be deleted from the list to make way for them….LMAOooo
That is how great teams are built…..LMAOooo
Dr. Drey you can make someone to laugh. I wonder how some people think. Thank God they are not rohr. How can you continue to change your team like that. Do you change your wife every time you see another beautiful woman
My brother…in this their millennium of mamma babies…..they change women every time they see a more beautifular woman o. That is why a coach must keep overhauling his team each time some outliners hit a purple patch. Just pursue everybody and invite new “most inform” guys…including your fit and playing goalkeeper who has World cup, AFCON and other big games experience for a boy who just played his first match in a first division all his career.
They will tell us if as teachers a new set of entirely different students keep coming to class every week, they will ever complete their study plan for the term. Or if as choir directors, a new set of choristers keep coming in and out for rehearsals, they will ever be able to finish practicing all the songs they intend singing at the concert.
Many of these so called critics are usually 70 X 7 times more clueless and incompetent that the people they are criticizing.
Players invitation is based on current form not who has been in the team before for now Awoniyi is the hottest striker of Nigerian descent playing in Europe
Mr. Nice, I dey here dey laugh ooo. That is a NICE answer for Rohr haters!
Awoniyi will get his chance….but we should stop giving our first team players guarantee and shirt security it’s bad for the team…..Nigerians do better where there is competition…. Nigerians tend to relax when Their position is not threatened……All this will affect the performance of the first 11……New players should be given game time to shine and let the first team players see the kind of talent sitting on the bench because of them….. Friendly marches and this kind of matches where first team players are unavailable should be used to give this fringe players enough playing time not just 10min in the dying minutes of a friendly match…..We are Nigerians and we do better under pressure….We are used to competition in our daily life and it makes us stronger,it makes us work harder and it makes us distinguish ourselves when we go overseas…..Rhor might not understand this yet because of his cultural background but I think he should consider this factor.
Since Mr. Rohr did not invite Awoniyi… I hope when the team becomes depleted away to Cape Verde and lose… he won’t Blame it on EPL refusal to release players? He does not want to start Bonke and Kingsley against Liberia… is it when faced with a tougher and sterner test away in Praia, Cape Verde that he hopes to play them? We are watching in 4D…
Bone that Bonke hype… Bonke Bonke Bonke that’s how I went to waste 60mins of my life to watch stupid boring Malmo match. Still the guy didn’t even impress me. He might be good, but I haven’t seen anything apart from media hype. Also, Isn’t it the same Kingsley Michael that played U20 WC under Aigbogun? Unless he has improved exponentially, baba he’s still average.
QUESTION: “He does not want to start Bonke and Kingsley against Liberia… is it when faced with a tougher and sterner test away in Praia, Cape Verde that he hopes to play them?”
ANSWER: Yes,its better to have your 3 points in the bag with your full squad and risk the away game with new players. After all it’s not even sure for Cape Verde to win. Draw away won’t still be a bad result.
Sean you get time o…..LMAOOO. Rohr should please start Bonke and Kingsley vs Liberia o….Infact he should give both of them full 90 mins. Let our midfielders from UK (Etebo, Ndidi, Aribo, Iwobi) just sit on the bench, watch a good game of football and return the UK just like that. I dont know the point in bringing them down in the first place if they wouldnt be available for the 2nd game and yet wont be fielded in the first. If any of Bonke and Kingsley should sustain an injury in the process we will call jimmylie to come and play midfield for us in cape verde……LMAOoooo.
Some people are just praying fervently that we should lose so that they can find some happiness in their miserable lives…..LMAOoooo
I hope the team becomes depleted away to Cape Verde and lose
Keep hoping o…..apoh ba..! LMAOOoo. Keep hoping……LMAOOooo.
the 22 players that will be left after the 7 from UK return to their base are not good enough in their eyes to earn at least a draw.
I hope when the team becomes depleted away to Cape Verde and lose
Awoniyi is the one that would have had hit a hattrick on his debut for us to be able to avoid a loss in cape verde….and since he is not here we will/must lose so that they can find thier long lost voices on CSN and be happy again after a long while…..LMAOOoo
Since they know how to predict who will score/win and who wouldnt, abeg make dem tell us who go score vs Liberia o….me I wan play 888bets o.
@Dr.Drey… Where is thy top 5 league criterion? Where is thy goals return & regular playing time criteria in the case of Awoniyi? We will excuse the next two games versus Liberia and Cape Verde to pass without Taiwo Awoniyi… I trust the dude will keep racking up numbers till the next internationals… We will be back then. Let’s hope Terem, Iheanacho, Onuachu and Osimhen all get good minutes so that we can begin to get clear comparison amongst them… We can no longer after this season afford inviting players with any other additive criteria more than being a first teamer in your club, top 5 status (@Dr.Drey’s and @Aydephillygreat… go-to criterion)… We must advocate the Super Eagles become a level playing field for all… even if goal king Rashidi Yekini comes back, we will benchmark his invitation on those pointers… Nigeria Super Eagles must be great again… In all honestly… Awoniyi is proving to now be at par with Victor Osimhen and I believe come season end 2021/2022… Awoniyi will have jumped to the head of the queue of Nigeria’s most lethal striker based on stats alone… anyone who cares should mark my words…
And what does this your long directionless story teach us…..???? LMAOOooo.
How does it make your opposition to Rohr leaving Kingsley and Bonke out of tomorrow’s game sensible….???? LMAOOOo.
We will mark your words…the same way we marked them when you told us Onazi will disgrace us….LMAOooo. The same way we marked them wehn you told us Nwakali will shut our mouths….LMAOOoo.
We will mark your words.
Just know that Awoniyi will get his own opportunity too in due time if he keeps his form and shape. The likes of Osimhen, Iheanacho, Onuachu and Moffi are currently reaping the rewards of high level performances over an entire season…..not over 2 weeks.
You haven’t told us anything new
@Dr.Drey… Onazi is playing same league with Ahmed Musa now o… he is not at Zalgris again… So why not? If Shehu in Cyprus can play Super Eagles, If Uzoho in Cyprus can play Super Eagles… if Adeleye Adekunle in Abia Warriors can play Super Eagles, if Kenneth Umeruo in Spain Segunda can play Super Eagles, if Marcus Abraham in Portugal Liga 2 can play Super Eagles… how then is Onazi and Nwakali case different? But since we have a coach who plays players who have no clubs and tell others doing well in their club to move to Real Madrid before call up… We are not surprised! Coach Rohr is a politician… Mr Young Team! I hope he won’t become Mr EPL Refuse Me My players after Praia…
Hahahaha…..cant you see how Onazi has shut us up so much that we are feeling his absence…? Cant you See Nwakali is now such a world famous midfielder that clubs are falling over themselves for him…..LMAOOoooo. Dont tell them to first fight for first team shirts in their respective clubs first. Every other player you listed up there are undisputable 1st teamers in their clubs except your supers stars who are better than all SE midfielders put together….LMAOOoooo.
Once again we will mark your words as we have always marked them…..LMAOOoo…and you will end up getting humble pies shoved down your throat as always….LMAOOOoo
@Sean… hahahaha. We have been thought a lesson in humility by Madagascar and Sierra Leone. Lol… I can bet Liberia does not even have players with the profile of Innocent Bonke and Kingsley Michael in their ranks… It will be wise and readily preparatory, to have Bonke and Michael come in for Ndidi and Etebo to get them into real mental rhythm before we go to Praia to face a tricky and fearless competitor… Ndidi and Etebo can start but play Bonke for Etebo around 70th minute and Michael for Ndidi around 80th. Bonke plays in Champions league and Michael in Serie A, those two are mature players and can hold their own against any African team least Liberia… giving them minutes against Liberia will psyche them up for Cape Verde since Ndidi and Etebo won’t be around anyways… those Portugal-raised players are very technical and fearless at home and away, I can bet you… allow an infantry soldier test battle before you make him command troupes in war… A word is enough for the wise!!!
I want y’all to remember this statement from our world class coach :
“We can only bring three centre forwards, we already have Osimhen, we have Paul Onuachu, we have Terem Moffi who is doing well in Lorient and we even have Kelechi Iheanacho. So which among these players will I remove for Awoniyi to come in?”
The statement itself sounds like that coming from a politician.
Mr. Rohr,, no need to roar, your response says it better.
A good coach will understand that Awoniyi has great experience of African games and he is one striker that can play in multiple formations. I hope we don’t get to a situation where the service of Osimhen-like or a robust striker will be needed
In as much I appreciate Awoniyi’s recent progession; we should try to be objective about our clamour..
Everything should be taken into context.
The coach rightly asked; ” who would he take out for Awoniyi?”
There can only be that much space in a team, given that we are playing only two matches.
You don’t need that much strikers for 2 matches.
Even if Awoniyi can play multiple positions in the forward line, unfortunately he wouldn’t be needed because the wings are also covered. We got like 6 wingers in the squad already and most of them can play multiple positions.
Besides most of them have experience both internationally and on the continent. It is not their first rodeo.
Though a stretch but the most important part is the financial aspect. The FA can only budget for a number. How can the NFF pay for so many players when we all know most might not play. How can they pay for a supposed player that is not needed at the time? The FA is still in debt as we speak, it would be total ‘buffoonery’ to keep piling up on the bill when still owing.
My take, Awoniyi is just a victim of the time. His chance will come. He just need to keep doing what he is doing right now. The Super Eagles is going no where. It is his house.
We look forward to tomorrow and Praia with all confidence and positivity.
Any of the boys selected should be enough to get the job done..
That was how you people clamoured for Onuachu, when he didn’t perform you wanted Awoniyi, if he’s invited and he didn’t perform someone like you will still come here to question the coach for inviting him, you guys should sometimes play ps4 or ps5 to calm down your nerves!
@mr nice we are not just clamouring but we don’t want the first team players to relax and feel that their position is guaranteed……They need to be on their toes…..they need to know that there are many talented players ready to take their place if they relax……they need to watch some Fringe players show the nation what they can offer so that they will know the kind of talent waiting on the fringes to take their position when they relax…..they need to taste rotation sometimes to make them feel insecured in their position……All this will bring out the best in them all…..Competition is good in any society and Nigerians especially perform better under a competitive environment……We are 200million plus people and over 5million scattered all over the world so nobody should be guaranteed a shirt in the national team of the most popular sport in the country……I know team cohesion is also important but we should find a way of balancing it……Rhor should also avoid making such statements because it sends a wrong message to the first team players and it can also result to Mafia in a team.
@Akp… Imagine Rohr flatly saying Iheanacho is better than Awoniyi… how do you classify that? Same Iheanacjo that will hibernate when a game gets tough and crunchy? Same Iheanacho who is not even a starter at Leicester? I respect Iheanacho but based on current form and most improvements made to their body of game… I don’t think Onuachu or Iheanacho is better than Awoniyi… Watch that guy for Bundesliga then you know we have a guy who is astutely an all-rounder and runs 90+ minutes… A coach comparing his players in the ist awkward manner… I even believe if both Onuachu and Ugbo continues head to head in Genk… Ugbo will upstage Onuachu… guy is well-drilled… fast, instinctive, pacy and clever… It took him less than 6minutes after getting introduced for Paul Onuachu in Genk’s last game for him to win the game… Onuachu before then has been on the field almost anonymous for over 80minutes languidly running and surrendering balls… Please Coach Rohr, gives our avalanche of teeming and deserving football players a level playing ground… Lookman, Ejaria, Olise, Adarabioyo, Ugbo and even Anjorin who is heading to Russia… Let’s continue to talk to these boys in a reassuring manner and pick those who still wants in with us… Our body language and a nation and administrators aren’t doing an honest job of the whole thing… It is well! Lookman has taken almost 3years to switch and Pinnick is at FIFA… Samuel Kalu must convince us this season firstly, by staying fit and taking care of himself… Some of us are already running out of temperence with him… he gets injured every season and has become known for falling and fainting on the pitch… if it’s dehydration make him the take time drink plenty water abeg… time no dey to dampen a team morale at tournaments with such kind of individual… I wish Samuel Kalu takes care of himself properly sha… If him fall for pitch again… well make I no talk… bouts like that will make football clubs question your health and we may need to take him to Saturn next time for @Dr.Drey colleagues to properly diagnose his problems… for now we hear say doctors never detect anything with the faintings…
Is this not the same Jimmy that was calling for Rhor’s head because he did not call up his favourite, Paul Onuachu?….He even nicknamed him “GOAL DEMON.
So all of a sudden, your Goal demon is no longer a good striker anymore. It’s well
@Michael Adelami. Don’t mind him. He’s never consistent. He was the one always crying about Onuachu when he was scoring 30 plus goals last season, to the extent that he was asking for Rohr’s head when he dropped him for Sadiq before the Benin and Lesotho matches. Lmao!! Now it is Awoniyi. We all know what Awoniyi can bring to the table but he must be consistent for a whole season to ascertain his level of readiness for the SuperEagles. Iheanacho provided all the assists for Awoniyi during their glorious U17 triumph. Awoniyi wasn’t even considered ahead of Success at the time if not for injury. Despite all that Iheanacho still scored more goals in that tournament than Awoniyi.
Maybe you should ask yourself why Awoniyi failed to make Siasia’s Olympic team in 2016 ahead of your boy Junior Ajayi?? Despite the fact that Iheanacho and Success and Iwobi were not available for the team. Let us see what he can do this season after settling with Union I’m sure the gaffer will definitely give him his chances.
@Michael Adelami… I am an individual who believes everyone should get a level playing field… I like Onuachu and he did well last season but if I see a player who affords better and more assured quality I will not ignore such player… Awoniyi is the most improved striker at the moment… injury slowed him down and he has continued from where he stopped… because Onuachu has done himself proud last season does not mean if a new guy with better style comes… he should be ignored. No justification can be made for excluding a player who plays in a top league and is Nigeria’s leading attacking in Europe at the moment… I am not like Rohr and his followers who once sold on a player stays loyal with blind admiration… everyday we hear the coach wants Ighalo back… what is all that nonesense?
@Ayphillydegreat… who is talking about Isaac Success here? So where is he today… since U-17 till now that he is 25years, how much football has he played? You want to compare players… Awoniyi was more involved with our youth teams than Success and Iheanacho… It was the introduction of Success and Iheanacho that destroyed our New Zealand 2015 U-20 World Cup output… they were just hauled into the team and could not contribute much… disrupting the chemistry from the U-20 Afcon which Nigeria won in Senegal… Awoniyi is the top striker for Union Berlin and Iheanacho is not a starter despite doing ok last season… maybe you should take it up with Brendan Rogers? I am sure your memory is stilled fresh from how Iheanacho performed woefully at Russia 2018?
Hahahaha…..@ Adelami. Let Awoniyi hit a dry patch of a run of 5 games without a goal and Josh Maja or Chuba Akpom start netting goals at the same time…..you will see how all these eulogies about Awoniyi will be thrown into the dustbin and he will start belittling the poor boy Awoniyi….LMAOOoo…We know their types…english language calls them rabble-rousers.
March 2021 seems so far away when some people were telling us Onuachu was our Messiah, then came April/May when Moffi became the new Cristiano Messi the SE needs to win the world cup. These 2 are yet to find their feet and the big noise now is Awoniyi. Once again, let Awoniyi play 2 games in SE without a goal like Moffi and these sycophants will switch their praise singing to someone else.
Imagine if Rohr has kicked Osimhen out of the SE starting line up for Onuachu in March, kicked Onuachu out for Moffi in May and now kicked them both out for Awoniyi and then Awoniyi out for God knows who will run into goodluck and score 3 goals in the next 3 weeks…..please how will we even have a team in the first instance.
All of a sudden, the work the likes of Moffi, Osimhen, Onuachu and iheanacho put it for A WHOLE SEASON, of which they have all started off this season where they left off last season, must be thrown away because someone hit a good patch in the last 2 weeks….LMAOOOoo
And later they will claim they are ex-footballers who played at the highest level….LMAOOoo.
They keep comparing Rohr to Belmadi….Belmadi has been playing almost the exact same team he has been playing since 2019 AFCON….almost the exact same team. I watched them tonight, I could list each player by his first name…from Rais in goal to Islam and Baghdad upfront…..like Ive come to recognize each and everyone of those players even though Im not an Algerian. And he will play the exact same team come 2022 AFCON…..3 years of consistency…..if nothing else Algerians have that going for them going into 2022 AFCON. Are there no other “most inform” Algerian players out there….of course there are.
But Rohr must chop and change his team EVERY MATCHDAY…..EVERY DAMN MATCHDAY.
Imagine Iwobi having to throw away all his understanding of Osimhen’ style of play and how he loves having the ball…everything he has learnt about osimhen’s game for the past 2 years…to within 2-3 training sessions start relearning how to play with Onuachu….then next match day……2-3 days training start learning how to play with moffi….then before perfecting that…..Awoniyi…and then Junior Ajayi and then Okpotu and then….and then….and then…..and every kack and harry that scores 3 goals in 2 weeks in Europe and they want to win 2022 AFCON……LMAOOOoo
Infact they will win it Unbeaten and without conceding a goals….LMAOOooo.
one moment they will complain Rohr doesnt have a standing team……the next moment, same people will complain he’s to rigid and doesnt allow competition…..LMAOOO
Which coach puts competition ahead of results…..???
Which coach will purposely bench an osimhen that is now far more experienced in both club and internationally for an Awoniyi tha is yet to even debut in the SE, just because of 2 weeks of goal-scoring form all in the name of competition….????LMAOOooo
Thank God none of these noise makers is anywhere near our naional team. We will wake up one day and see we are bottom of FIFA rankings…..LMAOOooo….people who dont know jack about football trying to be wannabees……LMAOOOOo
@Dr.Drey… that is why player invitation is based on form. Once you are the level of Senior team… no one teaches football again. Your moongod coach who does not know how talk saying Awoniyi is not better than any of the strikers invited… I wonder what stat he was using to classify that! A defender in his heyday whose name is known to always be defensive… the Rohr of a man is even a dictator… Mikel does not like talk otherwise he would have exposed Rohr since… someone who told Rohr he should be more adventurous with his tactics… that is why we played cameroon recently and could not score over 180minutes… his tactics are gettinmg tested soon.
Oga….are the quartet of Osimhen, iheanacho, Onuachu and Moffi off-form…????
So once you are at senior level you dont need to have understanding or chemistry with your teammates….2-3 days BAM…and you strike a telepathic understanding with them and start netting hattricks right…..LMAOooooo
The quartet of Osimhen, iheanacho, Onuachu and Moffi has suddenly now become not good enough for Nigeria anymore. They can win matches for Nigeria any more. Only Awoniyi how has never played for the SE can win matches for Nigeria….LMAOooo
Is Awoniyi better than all 4 of them…? Has he played in the SE before…? In the history of Nigerian football which debutant striker ever led our lines in a world cup qualifier…? You can pls call your phantom Prof. Offiali the historian of our time….LMAOooo…to tell you where a debutant has ever led the lines for us in a World cup qualifier.
Or because we are in week 3 of the season and Awoniyi has 5 goals he has become better than all the rest…? Yet same you was hear opening your mouth wide and hailing Onuachu as a goal demon…..LMAOOOoo. Same you was here ranting the rooftops open and almost threatening that if Moffi is not invited to the SE you will blow yourself up…..LMAOOoo. Both the Onuachu and Moffi are still warming their way into the team….all of a sudden your songs of sycophancy has switched to Awoniyi.
If he was better than the rest, why is he just finding a club to settle in all these while….or are they all not of same age group apart from Paul…? This is a guy who barely goes beyond hitting 10 goals per season. Because he has hit 3 goals in 2 weeks now he has suddenly become better than everyone else…and should lead our attack debuting in crucial WC qualifiers? Why then is he yet to make his SE debut when Osimhen his U17 Junior is already our undisputed no 1 CF if he was better than everybody else…???
If you are wondering what stats Rohr used to make his conclusion go and divide the number of goals they all scored by the number of minutes they all had last season and overall in their careers and come back here to run your mouth again that Awoniyi is better than all of them.
The coach has made his choice so shove your own choice down your throat….LMAOooo….and wait for your own turn to become coach to make whatever choices you like.
You’ve been praying for him to get sacked for years now so why are you angry if you think the players he has invited are not good enough…? Are you the one that will be sacked if results dont come…? Mikel does not like to talk yen yen yen yen yen…he can go ahead and talk….what do you expect from a disgruntled element who couldnt bear being dumped to the bench by younger etebo and Ndidi…?
Leave Rohr with his lack of adventure. Those who had all the adrenaline in the world couldn’t meet simple targets of qualifying for common AFCON. Rohr has done that 2ce already and is about kickstarting his 2nd WCQ series and he achieved all with unprecedented point gaps and games to spare.
His tactics have always been tested in every competitive match since 2019 and guess what….he’s scored 77%……LMAOoooo
So shove your Mikel rants and lack of adventure down your latrine….LMAOOOoooo.
THE PECKING ORDER OF STRIKERS IN THE SE REMAINS OSIMHEN, IHEANACHO, ONUACHU & MOFFI till the next international break.
If that order pains you so badly please collide with a moving train on your way to work this morning…..LMAOoooo
@Dr.Drey… your admonishment of people wishing them doom is almost a fulltime work for you… I should collide with train… No… God almighty will never let harm come close to me… I wont for sake of just mere football attritions we have wish or suggest such on you but at any rate… Coach Rohr will never win us spoon! His mentality is too defeatist to enter a challenge with the right spirit… he should go back to a monastry in Europe and remain a humble Abbot there! Hahahaha… he is not needed in a fiery football world… Make I sleep for 4hours leave for work. Thankfully… I do not have a rail crossing on my path! I banish every spirit of fiendish gods and aliens from Saturn on my path this morning and forever to work back to the depths of abyss in the ends of the world for in JESUS mighty name… Amen! I have conquered all fiendish spirits by the precious blood of Jesus our lord… Amen!
Hahahahaha…..I can see you are an astute well wisher. Cant you see all the well-wishes you have been throwing around this forum these past few days….your well wishes that we should lose both home and away??? You gleefully wish someone else fail on his job as national team coach……gleefully wish we lose against Capeverde so you can have a little happiness in your life at the expense of 200 million others….gleefully wish we have a disastrous AFCON come February just because of your personal hatred for Rohr. All the good things others have said about Rohr you never see them to repbroadcast…..all the facts and results that throw your lies under the bus mean nothing. It is the rants of a disgruntled player who couldnt bear being dropped for better performing youngster that has become your creed….LMAOoooo…… and you want to play the victim here…..LMAOooo…you want to play saint….you want to fool us as you always think you do….LMAooooo. Shove your deceptive innocence and hypocrisy in the trash bins.
Coach Rohr will never win us a spoon…thank you…but at least he has proven he isn’t an incompetent bum like your guadiolas who couldn’t even do as much as even qualify for any major tournament. He has a contract till 2022 which has targets. And guess what…..Rohr NEVER fails to meet his targets…so we trust him on that and give him benefit of doubt based on his precedence of meeting ALL TARGET given to him by his employers. Your master tactician and doyen of football artistry from the technical bench, Amunike who was claiming he wasnt sacked by El Maqqassa in Egypt after being demoted from 1st team coach to Academy coach is back home queuing for Kano Pillars coaching job. Which coach under contract goes attending interviews for coaching jobs with another club…? LMAOOooo. Those are the people who will win AFCON for you after conspiring against and sabotaging another man right…? We shall all see…..LMAOoooo
So why not just shut your gut and stop chirping like canary if you are truly confident he wouldnt meet the targets given to him….LMAOooooo….your fear that he just might meet them is why you are always ranting directionless on this forum….LMAOooo. Your subconscious is telling you silently this guy was a stone throw away from the trophy the last time and might just be 2nd time lucky this time, with a bit of providence from the gods of soccer.
If you are so confident he is going to fail you dont need to repeat yourself many times…..you just say it once and keep fingers crosses and let time tell. But the truth is that with every passing day your conscience tells you how much a possibility there is that your worst fears will come alive…that’s why you come here all fidgety and sweaty and trying by all means to force your directionlessness on everybody and end up getting frustrated because facts and results arent going your way…..LMAOOoo
Please sit back and relax and watch us race to the top of our table by Wednesday, a lead never to be relinquished till we reach Qatar. Person wey something sure for nor need make noise.
I asked you a very simple question up there as I characteristically always do…..are the quartet of Osimhen, iheanacho, Onuachu and Moffi off-form….??? Simple question…you are still convulsing till now
Awoniyi breaking in will heavily depend on a serious loss of form from one of them met by a massive surge in form for awoniyi
But once again, for now, THE PECKING ORDER OF STRIKERS IN THE SE AT THE MOMENT REMAINS OSIMHEN, IHEANACHO, ONUACHU & MOFFI till the next international break.
If that order pains you so badly, I repeat, please collide with a moving train on your way to work this morning. If you cant do so….then it has really not pained you. Because you apparently know and love Rohr’s job more than him.
Rhor has really tried for the super eagles . I pray we secure the 3 points tomorrow
Are the players in the Scottish League, Balogun and Aribo also returning to the UK after the Liberian game?
Yes, Scotland is part of the UK so they will not be permitted to travel to Cape Verde
Who said their place is guaranteed? The coach has stated his reason very clearly which is reasonable, With that statement it means the man is even fed up with all the noise here and there. Every time call this call that haba! Every players can not made the team at once. This is not a pre tournament match where u invite long number of players to fight for final slot. This man is not the only coach to left out an inform players out of a team it happened everywhere afterall Awoniyi is not only Nigerian player deserving to be in the team right now. Nigeria wahala tire person.
Pls let’s learn to respect the coach choice since he is the one saddle with the responsibility thank u.
@ Tayo I have always supported Rhor from the start but I still need to point out some wrongs in his reaction to that Awoniyi question…..Rhor is human and can make mistakes in answering questions like all humans……Rhor would have just danced around that question like many coaches do even in club sides…..A response like this is preferable……” Awoniyi is a good player who will add alot to my team and we have been scouting him for sometime now,he came through the ranks here and I hope to integrate him into the team gradually if he keeps his form for Union “…….or…..”Awoniyi is one player we have our eyes on but the crucial nature of this game won’t give us the time and space to integrate him into the unit but his time will surely come if he keeps working hard “……..You ended up pacifying the new player who is working hard by assuring him that hard work can get him to where he wants to be and at the same time send a message to the already established player that the position he is occupying can be taken away from him by a hard working player…… you motivated them both which is a win win for the team……..But when you say ” WE HAVE THIS WE HAVE THAT ALREADY…WHO WILL BE DROPPED?….EVEN MENTION NAMES…..”…….it’s an indirect guarantee that I have Mr A already and he can’t be dropped or else he gets injured and unavailable…..It’s wrong even in Super powers of football like Germany France England Italy that have super talented players in their first eleven you can never hear the coach reassuring an inform player who is not callup by bragging on what he has available to him already……This super powers are willing to indulge at all times….. Musiala who made his debut for Germany 3 months ago started yesterday for almighty Germany…….Adeyemi was in the bench for Germany….. Nigeria would take a year to integrate this players in SE and we will start counting what we have…..we don’t even have the players to move things globally yet and we are bragging about what we have.

Awoniyi is a good striker, and he is getting better by the day at Union. All he can do is continue what he is doing. A man can only ignore an itch for so long. Eventually, he must scratch that itch. If Awoniyi continues to shine consistently, Rohr will be forced to look his way. But Awoniyi’s time has not yet come. There are others ahead of him in the pecking order, and rightly so.
Keep working hard, Awoniyi! You’re on the right track!
You know better than this @pompei.
No wonder we have Oga Rohr as the coach of the Super Eagles.
No wonder Super Eagles is yet to win something spectacular under Oga Rohr.
Kai, how could you say that @pompei?
I can’t believe this kę. How long Awoniyi should wait for?
Don’t you know that the longer the gaffer stay with the Super Eagles, the more he will kill the moral of the Super Eagles players?
If you and Oga Rohr followers are wondering why Super Eagles is playing in Lagos, NFF knew that Lagos fans doesn’t take nonsense and world cup ticket is at stake, we have to qualify.
Read what you wrote about Awoniyi and Oga Rohr and you believe that Oga Rohr is the best for the job?
Why he, Oga refused to get Nwakali involved since 8 of the players won’t be available for the Cape Verde Match?
We have Kayode, a fantastic striker but this our world class doesn’t look his way.
We also have a reliable striker in Dessers but the gaffer will claim that he doesn’t play regularly at his club but when Nacho wasn’t at his very best before now, he helped Nacho at the national team.
When Musa wasn’t active, he had in his team but because Dessers, Kayode and co are not Nigerians, ke kicked them out of the team claiming that all of them can not play at the same time but wait a minute, why is he, Oga Rohr still converting players?
Akpeyi that always jittery when playing at the national team is the one he trusted ahead of Osagwe?
Ahahahaahhah, ahahah, ahhhhhh. Oga Rohr and his followers are jokers .
And you are telling Awoniyi that
“Eventually, he must scratch that itch. If Awoniyi continues to shine consistently, Rohr will be forced to look his way. But Awoniyi’s time has not yet come”.
Really pompei? You really surprised me today kę.
I am promising you and the rest of the followers of Oga Rohr that I will come out to congratulate Oga Rohr if he eventually wins the Afcon trophy in Cameroon.
I don’t even know if he is still building or he has done building the team.
A team that can not do without Akpeyi?
Kai, okoba gafara oooo. It is well. Fingers crossed. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
@pompel, I agreed with you bro, but people shouldn’t complain about onuachu or calls him names on Friday. Bringing Awoniyi to the team now wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Sunnyb, I would also have loved to see Awoniyi in there. But I can’t fault Rohr’s logic on this one. Let’s hope the players invited take care of business tomorrow.
The jury will be out on quite a number of players during this international window. I’m glad that most of the matches leading to the AFCON are competitive matches. This will allow the coaching staff to see which players are truly focusing on the bigger pictures ahead the AFCON and the WorldCup. Awoniyi will surely be a part of this team in the nearest future because some players will surely play themselves out of the team particularly in the attacking third. However, at the moment all the players selected in attack are ahead of him in the pecking order.
Also there’s the likes of Simy and Sadiq to contend with this season. The SuperEagles jersey nowadays is becoming the battle of the fittest. For instance if Simy and Sadiq and even Isaac Success continue to hug the headlines then the debate continues till next November when the WorldCup is here if we qualify. In the past even during our most successful eras top players like Richard Owubokiri, Jonathan Akpoborie and Mike Obiku including a certain Sadi Dairu in the 90s couldn’t make Westerhoff squad. Therefore, whoever makes the team should consider it an opportunity of a lifetime at this point because the competition will continue to heat up from now on.
I hope Simy and Iwobi were not in the team at the world cup and why the coach didn’t bring them in as early as possible if they were more important to him?
He waited until how many minutes to go against Argentina?
Now, you are manipulating things again? Simy and Sodiq ba?
Dessers that our Oga Rohr gave faw minutes against Tunisia and he almost scored but to our world class coach, Dessers is not good enough. He claimed that Awoniyi is not better than those strikers in the Super Eagles and still, Osimeh doesn’t have a replacement yet.
So, we didn’t have the best team at the last world cup? Also at the Afcon in Egypt?
Let the bla bla bla continue ojeeee mon gba dun yin my people.
Is now that our world best coach will do wonders?
Why are we like this kę? Why?
The problem is not about our players but the coaches in charge of our Super Eagles period.
We can ask Messi and C.Ronald to join Oga Rohr’s team and I can boldly say that Super Eagles can’t do more than what they have done or achieved under Oga Rohr.
As I always said, I will never stop speaking the truth . Nothing but the truth.
Do you think Oga Rohr is happy that Super Eagles team is playing in Lagos?
NFF played smart and decided to bring Super Eagles back to Lagos so that the players and coaches can be more serious.
@Ayphillydegreat, if Algeria can beat Super Eagles twice, Sierra Leone did theirs and Madagascar also did their worst so, I hope by now, we should be humble and we should limit our expectations against Liberia and throughout the world cup qualifiers and even at the Afcon tournament in Cameroon. Truth is bitter. God bless Nigeria!!!
@AY, good comments, some of them will knock themselves out for sure.
Omo Gidi,
Ok, who should Rohr have left out? Osimhen, Onuachu, Moffi, or Iheanacho? Think about it. Unless Rohr decides to have 5 strikers. But then what of Dessers, who we both know is also good? And Ike Ugbo? And Dennis?
Should Rohr also invite these ones, making a total of 8 strikers?
It’s unfortunate for the players left out, but it’s great for Rohr and Nigeria fans. It’s great that we have so much talent to choose from. All we can do now is continue to encourage Awoniyi and the boys that were not selected to keep working hard.
As for the one who is AKPEYESQUE BY NATURE, you know how I felt about him in the past. I criticized him heavily and had no confidence in him. But now, I feel like I want to give him a chance, based on his long run of good performances in SA.
You can’t put that kind of run together by luck. He must be doing something right.
Perhaps he has worked on his weaknesses and is now more confident. If the coaches feel he is good enough, I’m inclined to trust them.
Haaaa, I forgot to mention Sadiq, who’s exclusion is the most baffling!
I don’t know what more Sadiq has to do to get invited. The man has been banging in goals with reckless abandon for a long, long time now. He has a case as valid as Awoniyi’s. All we can do is to continue to encourage these guys to keep their heads up and keep on firing.
@Pompei… you dont know what more Sadiq has to do? Really? Let him move to an elite league… we want him playing top division… even if it is Belgium, Netherlands and even Turkey… let him go there and score 20+ goals… after all his exploit, he still could not secure any move anywhere… are you telling me clubs are not noticing him?
Jimbo, life is not fair. Sadiq should be playing in a top 5 league by now. Not too long ago, clubs like Man United and Bayern Munich were inquiring about him. It didn’t work out. So Sadiq has to remain where he is. But he’s been banging in the goals, and as long as he remains consistent, a big club will come get him, sooner or later.
Although I feel he merits invitation, it is obvious that the 4 that were invited are ahead of him in the pecking order. The situation may change in the near future. But for now, all Sadiq can do is keep shaking the net. Eventually, his time will come.
A case for Awoniyi:
Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho are our number 1,2 and 3 in a 23 man squad. This is a 30 man squad, with 7 extra players. It is also “short 2” as Akpoguma and Onyeka are left out owing to positive covid tests.
Surely if you are calling in 9 players extra, you can afford a 5th striker? Lets’s say Moffi is number 4, Awoniyi deserves number 4 ahead of him, but for argument’s sake there is still space for number 5, especially as he is the most inform Nigerian striker on the planet at this time.
However, I understand that the coach wants players he already knows for a competitive game. You can look at it like a new student in class who comes in just before exam. The student requires time to understand what the teacher wants to hear/read and may not hit the ground running.
@BigD… inviting Awoniyi makes sense, when you see that Iheanacho, Osimhen make not go to Praia…
Lol most informed with just three matches? Not even 10 matches and even last season how many goals did he score? The point is that we can only know if awoniyi is consistent after 15 matches, judging his performances on just 3 matches Haba
One thing I can say about coach Rohr is he doesn’t believe in dropping players anyhow. If for any reason he invites you to the team and you distinguish yourself he will keep inviting you even if they are other players doing well out there. He likes continuity. He will only drop you when your injured or having fitness issues. Thats why im not happy with the sadiq situation. He had about two invites but couldn’t make either of them. This has affected his chances in the team as more attacking players in bigger leagues like Awoniyi are making waves and since they are no room for more players in the team, if there is any opening it may most likely go to awoniyi.
But these are really exciting times for the Super Eagles. We are having quite a number of players vying for the few available positions and none of the players look ready to retire for now.
We cant be suggesting that the coach drop a player today and pick another because of club form because it might affect the teams chemistry. We can only hope that those who are invited give a good account of themselves and for those who are yet to be invited to continue doing well for their clubs in anticipation of future call ups.
