Former Nigerian international, Mikel Obi has predicted that the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be played between the Super Eagles and Ivory Coast on February 11.
In a chat with The Obi One podcast, the former Chelsea star, stated that Nigeria will overcome Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final while Ivory will edge DR Congo.
“I think so. I was thinking about it the other day and I was thinking that we managed to beat them in the group stage and they were on the verge of leaving, the tournament and all of a sudden you know, they are back in it and now.
“They have got a wind with them and now are playing prettily okay but not so well, but they have started to win games and now if they can manage to get to the final, who knows?”

He also noted that Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has managed to become the talk of the tournament, so far, due to his impressive displays for Nigeria.
“When you look through the whole team everybody has been absolutely superb, starting from the goalkeeper which is something I talked about before the tournament. I said one position we need to make sure we sort out is the goalkeeping position and we’ve managed to do that,” Obi Mikel said on The Obi One Podcast.
“He’s based in Africa and he’s managed to become the talk of the tournament, he’s become one of the favourites for the Nigerian fans. He’s put in very good performances.
“Before we scored the goal against Angola, there was a massive save that he made. If the ball went in, it would have been a different ball game.”

That would be superb!
A footballer might not be a good coach likewise a footballer might not be a good seer not to talk of professional star gazer or witch doctor or prophet.

That would be an advantage to us. I predicted that too, and it’s likely we are going to play against the host country Ivory Coast in the final because I do not see Congo beating Ivory Coast. They don’t have the mental strength and the capacity to do so based on what I saw in their last match.
For Nigeria vs. South Africa match, that match will be easier for Eagles if they take their chances. That is the only way, but if our boys are wasteful in front of a goal, that is not guaranteed, and they will make life difficult for themselves like they did against Angola.
We should count ourselves lucky that we are playing South Africa because their team is disjointed and have no good finishers in front, but they are more solid in the back.
If we take our chances, I am expecting 3:0 from Eagles, but if Super Eagles fail to convert their chances, they will win by 2:0. God is in control. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Behold, I see TWO West African giants. It will end in a stalemate, but Nwabali will hold the day for the SE who will count up to number FOUR!
