Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has lost his father.
Nwabali announced the death of his father on Instagram on Friday, November 15, posting a heartfelt message alongside a tearful emoji.
“Rest in peace, dad,” he wrote.
Nwabali was in goal for the Super Eagles in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Benin Republic, on matchday 5 of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
He conceded his first goal in the qualifiers after Mohamed Tijani header from a cross slipped past him.
The Eagles had already qualified before the game against Benin after Libya beat Rwanda 1-0 in Kigali.
Meanwhile, there is the possibility of Nwabali missing Monday’s clash with Rwanda following the death of his father.
Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye may be in goal in the game which is more important to Rwanda than the Eagles.
