“We are happy to have renewed Sebastian Osigwe’s contract. He is not only a precious element for the dressing room, but also a quality goalkeeper who has repeatedly shown that he is worthy of the Super League,” sporting director Carlos Da Silva told the club’s official website.
“In training he always gives his best. His professionalism is an example for his younger teammates, as well as a point of reference for his colleagues.
“Finding a profile like this, in football and in the specific role of the goalkeeper, is by no means a given.”
The experienced goalie was invited to the Super Eagles under former boss, Gernot Rohr in 2020.

COACH PASEIRO SHOULD INVITE OSIGWE AND GIVE HIM TRAIL ONE DAY, INSTEAD OF HIM RELYING ON NAMES, EGO FOR INVITING GOALKEEPERS INTO THE SUPER EAGLE. AFTER ALL, WHO KNOW CARL IKEME FROM ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP IN ENGLAND BEFORE HE GOT INVITATION INTO SUPER EAGLE BY SUNDAY OLISEH.
Coach Paseiro, don’t rely on NAMES & EGO before you invite players
Congratulations to you Sebastian Osigwe. This is another quality goalkeeper that have to compete with Uzoho and Okoye.
But I think those in charge of the Super Eagles are not there to do anything meaningful in the national team and are not ready to do the right thing.
It’s just a pity that Oga Paseiro will continue from where Oga Rohr has stopped.
We have not seen enough of Adeleye not to talk of Sebastian Osagwe.
I hope Oga Paseiro have learned one or two things in Qatar because if we don’t see any improvement after the world cup in the Super Eagles then Oga Paseiro should take a leave.
All the best to you Sebastian Osigwe. God bless Nigeria!!!
The obstacle that has held Osigwe back has either been lack of game time or meager minutes on the pitch in club football.
That said, I will implore Peseiro to ditch convention and just invite Osigwe and play him in subsequent Super Eagles games despite his impecunious playing time in club football.

With the mini-crisis (if I may call it that) that we are experiencing in the Super Eagles goalkeeper department, taking a punt with Osigwe shouldn’t be too high a risk to take.
Afterall, our top three goalkeepers (Uzoho, Okoye and Adeleye) aren’t exactly high-flyers in their clubs.
Who knows, Osigwe might yet prove to be the ace in the hole that we have longed prayed for since the departure of Ikeme.
** Will it be Osigwe’s time to shine in Super Eagles colours? **
It was heartwarming to read above that Nigeria goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe has extended his contract with Swiss club, FC Lugano.
The 28 year old Osigwe, according to the club penned a new three-year deal which should see him continue diving, parrying and smothering in the Swiss top flight until at least 2025.
The impermeable goalie, who pulled out of national team invitation in 2020 after sadly testing positive for the dreaded Corona virus, is yet to feature for the Super Eagles at any competitive stage.
The obstacle that has held Osigwe back has either been lack of game time or meager minutes on the pitch in club football.
That said, I will implore Peseiro to ditch convention, go against the grain and just invite Osigwe and play him in subsequent Super Eagles games despite his impecunious playing time in club football.

I just love keepers who have passing and distribution skills. Please Nff and Peisero invite this guy abeg.
Yes, it would be so gr8 to invite Osigwwe now. That guy has been good despite the fact that the switz club(lugano) are trying to use the club to promote their very own goalkeeper bt we know Osigwr is better nd more experience as he has taken everytin in good faith( in his strides), hoping to still wrestle the shirt number from the younger goalkeeper very soon hence, he just signed the new contract.
Apart from inviting Sabastian Osigwr, another very important thing is that Mr. Poseiro just like other coaches nd fans are buzy watching the ongoing FIFA world cup with keen interest; the ups nd downs, the surprises and a lot of transformations, trends nd changes in the game especially, as it concerns African teams. Morocco and Ghana have been able to serve us well if only we are serious about achieving any meaningful thing with our dear Super Eagles. They have been able to attract most of their dual nationality players who have came on board to show great passion and honour for their shirts.
I now enjoin our coaches nd technical team to please, show more seriousness nd design a workable plan towards convincing those guys.
It is high time we go back to call the folllowing players now it seems they have shown interest in playing for us; Ebere Eze, Folarin Balogun, Jordan Torunarigha, Ovie Ejaria, Okonkwo the young goalkeeper of Crew Alexandria and the other goalkeeper at Crystal Palace, etc.
He(the coach) shoulder f also call fresh legs in our midfield, defence nd attack. Players like Ndidi, Troost Ekong, Ola Aina, Uzoho, though still young players should be made to sit up. Their performances these days nd how frequent they get injured is a sign that requires urgent attention. Therefore, we should not only invite the younger ones like Raphael Onyedika, Alhassan Yusuf, Onyedimma, Razzak Ishaq of Anderletch, et al, but have to trust nd play them in games inorder to be able to integrate them nd completely revamp the team.
Let me tell you categorically here, the Super Eagles of today have the best of materials (players) more than any other time in recent years that, if properly harnessed, moulded nd managed as a team, is going to be a very formidable force in Africa nd beyond.
The necessary things must be done. And those things are:: Invite the best players, create enabling environment nd design a proper welfare package for the players and coaches.
Thanks.
Can’t agree less with you. I really want to see Osigwe, Rafael Onyedika and Alhassan Yusuff integrated into super eagle soon. I believe they will make the team stronger.
