The next African player of the year
Osimhen’s topping of the scorer’s chart for AFCON qualifiers has erased my fears that any of the Moroccan player could beat him to this year’s African player of the award. None of the Moroccan’s stand any chance currently.
I hope CAF does not politicise the award in favour of another player and to the best of my knowledge, the only nomination from Africa for FIFA men player of the year has justified Osimhen to be crowned as African Footballer of the year.
Bounou (of Morocco) is in the running for GK of the Year though
About time this FIFA award stopped simply counting goals scored Consideration should be given to impacts by a player on global society and the development of soccer. This makes Osimhen a strong candidate.
