Nigeria’s Super Eagles have congratulated Victor Boniface after winning the Bundesliga player of the month award for August.
The 22 year old bagged the award after scoring two goals and providing an assist during his first month in the German top flight.
Boniface won the award ahead of Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Jonas Wind (Wolfsburg), Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich), Kevin Behrens (Union Berlin) and Benjamin Henrichs (RB Leipzig).
He also won Rookie of the month which makes him the first player since Erling Haaland to win both awards in the same month.
The Super Eagles hailed him their X (formerly known as Twitter) handle.
“Keep soaring Eagle, keep it up Victor Boniface #soarsupereagles #letsdoitagain,”they posted.
Boniface has tallied up four goals and two assists in three Bundesliga matches this season.
Bayer Leverkusen are currently topping the Bundesliga standings with nine points after matchday three.
Boniface made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe on September 10 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
He provided an assist for Chukwueze who scored the last goal of the game.
