Former Bafana Bafana captain, Dean Furman has tipped the Super Eagles to clinch the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
He made this known in a chat with BBC World Service, where he said that Nigeria are going about their work in an understated fashion.
He also noted that South Africa will find it difficult to overcome Cape Verde in the quarter finals of the tournament.

“I don’t want to speak too soon because Cape Verde, we played them twice in 2017 in the World Cup qualifiers, we lost to them twice,” Furman told the BBC World Service.
“2013 AFCON opening game at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, everyone expected us to win. It was a draw and if I’m honest, we should have lost that game so I’m not taking them lightly at all, it is going to be a very, very tough game but it is anyone’s.
“The so-called big nations, the fancied nation Nigeria are going about their work in an understated fashion but I think they are ticking on really nicely so I would have them down as the favourites right now.”

Gone are the days during GENERAL ROAR’S time when the SUPER EAGLES are even PRAYING to face highly rated teams like Senegal and Morocco.(to help toughen us) But now we were all praying for them to be eliminated so we can have an easy route to the trophy….
I would have love us to face Morocco or Senegal before they were eliminated honestly…
Every human being is right for his or her opinion. You are very right.
SURE AFCON 2023 PREDICTION
IF THESE EIGHT TEAMS WERE GROUPED THIS WAY AT THE ONGOING AFCON 2023, WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD TOP THE GROUPS?
GROUP A
Nigeria
Angola
Cape Verde
South Africa
GROUP B
Ivory Coast
Mali
Guinea
DR Congo
*NB*: The two Group Leaders would play at the Final and the two Runners-up would play the Third Place Match. That’s my Prediction.
Nigeria finds it a lot easier facing the so called big teams. Our most difficult matches so far were the ones against EQ and GNB. We eliminated CAM with ease while CIV found us extremely difficult to deal it. If we had met Senegal, they wouldn’t escape defeat, same as Maroc. Reason is these teams will come out to play and not resort to kongfu, boxing and wrestling on the field of play. They won’t pack buses or employ delay tactics to get through us. Those big teams have players baptized in European football with very refined approach and mentality. They win with honour and lose with honour.
Angola will try to frustrate us in the manner EQ did. But we will win the match because the Super Eagles that played against EQ are better equipped now to mitigate the effect of those antics.
Now u dey change the tune , u said it here that for u to believe in the eagles then the should beat any team eliminate either Senegal or morroco becos the team that will eliminate them must be very Good and strong

@Monkey, if you have nothing nice to say, why don’t you just keep quiet. You, as monkey, is really ticking off the good people of our beloved Country. You supposed to be getting better with wisdom as you get older but, of cause, as a monkey, you get worse and worse by the day. Nigerians are so pissed whenever they see your post. You were not like this before. What happened to you mr monkey? Go to reset your personality as soon as you can if you really want to be accepted back to dwell in Nigerian solid values.

Ghanais are the worst people on the planet
They are so ******* and **** minded and it will only lead them down to destruction!
If anyone does not know – let me tell you about the event “AFRONATION”
This is fast becoming the largest festival of Afrobeats on the planet – but recently those jealous bastard ********** decided to ban Nigerian Music (The creators and doubtless front runners and biggest Afrobeat stars in the whole world – led by their stupid president’s daughter, and talentless ********** like that mumu
black sheriff, reggie rockstone, samini and all these other chale ********** lol) shot their damn selves in the foot by trying to ban Nigerian music ha oboy I nor fit laff self!
You this Monkey Post guy, you talk the loudest, with this your wrong spelling of Rohr, like you know it all, but you know nothing. Senegal had no Plan B against a CIV that had no tactical knowledge. CIV only showed them stubbornness and they fizzled out and couldn’t create a Plan B. All through second half through to the extra time, they were merely struggling to survive. There’s nothing special about Senegal, I’ve known that since 2021. They’ve simply been lucky not to have met a stubborn team. Your almighty Morocco was beaten by SA. You watch football with a lot of emotions. It’ll do you some great good if you start watching from a scientific and tactical standpoint, rather than come here to spew garbage all the time, you and your clueless scout boy Rohr. The most clueless coach to ever coach Nigeria. You talk too much boy, and a lot of the times, they’re always senseless!
@MONKEY POST It is well, believe me it is even tougher now or maybe less. Super Eagles Needs to take each game as a final and we shall prevail
Yea it is well my brother @ugo iwunze
