Sale Sharks have confirmed that Josh Strauss has departed the club to join Super Rugby side Blue Bulls on a three-year contract. The 32-year-old Scotland international back-row forward has spent the past two seasons with the Premiership outfit after arriving from Glasgow Warriors, making 46 appearances.
However, Sale have mutually agreed to release Strauss from the final two years of his contract at the AJ Bell Stadium in order to allow him to link up with the South African side. “I would like to thank Josh for his endeavours over the last two years with the club,” boss Steve Diamond said. “I am sure he will be a huge success at his new club and he is welcome back to Manchester any time.”
Strauss added on the Sharks’ website: “I really enjoyed my time at Sale, everyone at the club was really welcoming and I enjoyed Manchester a lot. “For family reasons a move back to South Africa makes sense and I was delighted to get an offer from the Bulls ahead of the 2020 Super Rugby season. I wish Dimes and the club all the best for the future.”
