Lucas Bergvall matched Gareth Bale’s feat in the Carabao Cup after netting the goal that earned Tottenham a 1-0 win against Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Bergvall scored in the 86th minute to give Ante Postecoglou’s side the slim first leg advantage.
According to OptaJoe, at aged 18 years and 341 days, Bergvall is Tottenham’s youngest goalscorer in the Carabao Cup since Bale vs Middlesbrough in September 2007 (18 years 72 days).
The match looked to be heading for a draw before Dominic Solanke picked out Bergvall in the box and set up the youngster’s first goal for Spurs as the hosts secured the slim first leg win.
The second leg will take place on 6th February at Anfield.
The other semi-final on Tuesday saw Newcastle United defeat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates stadium.
Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon were in target for the Magpies.
