Sporting Lisbon chiefs want winger Marlos Moreno as part of the £50m deal to allow Bruno Fernandes to move to Manchester City. The Colombian international has spent this season on loan at Mexican club Santos Laguna and Sporting believe there is still a top player waiting to emerge, having moved to the Etihad from Athletico Nacional four years ago.

Moreno was considered a top prospect in South America but the 22-year-old has failed to make a senior appearance for the Citizens and has also previously been farmed out to Deportivo La Coruna, Girona and Flamengo. It’s understood City are close to securing midfielder Fernandes, ahead of both Manchester United and Liverpool, although there is a difference of opinion on Moreno’s makeweight valuation.
Sporting were in Manchester last week but don’t want to cede to City’s demands of a 25 percent future sell-on clause for Moreno. Sources have indicated a compromise will have to come somewhere, with free-scoring Fernandes having his heart already set on playing under Pep Guardiola.
