Azzurri (The Blues) of Italy coach Luciano Spalleti is confident that his team will qualify for Euro 2024 despite their bad form.
Italy didn’t qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and after losing 3-1 to England on Tuesday, October 17 at the Wembley Stadium they are at a risk of not making a second consecutive major tournament.
Gianluca Scamacca scored first for Italy in the encounter but a brace from Harry Kane and a solitary strike from Marcus Rashford gave the Three Lions the win.
Spalletti was appointed Italy coach on September 1 after the resignation of Roberto Mancini. The game against England was his first match as gaffer.
He guided Serie A outfit Napoli to a third Serie A title in the 2022/23 season.

When asked if he was unsure of qualification for Euro 2024 he appeared positive.
“I’d be surprised if my players feared it,” footballitalia.net quoted Spalletti as saying.
“We have the quality to face all opponents. This result does not mean we can’t play the brand of football we want. We know that situations like the ones of the third goal are not the norm and we know we did the right thing. We have to improve but we have to continue pressing high, force the opponent to play long balls and defend these long balls in the right way.
“Otherwise we need to change immediately, go backwards and talk about something different and it won’t happen. Of course in some moments we have to study and understand who will press and that’s what we want to do. Press, tackle hard and have intensity throughout the game.”
The Azzurri failed to qualify for the 1964, 1972, 1976, 1984 and 1992 editions of the Euros.
Italy are third in Group C of the Euro 2024 qualifying series with 10 points after six matches.
They will need to obtain four points in the last two games or a win away against Ukraine to qualify for Euro 2024.
They will play North Macedonia on November 17 at the Stadio Olimpico Tour and Ukraine on November 20.
Euro 2024 will be held in Germany and will take place between June 14 to July 14 next year.
