Southampton are weighing up a move for Spezia forward David Okereke as they grow increasingly frustrated in their attempts to land Che Adams.
Southampton have seen two bids rejected for Adams, Birmingham’s 22-goal top scorer last season. The latest was £14m.
Boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to go ahead with his planned overhaul of his forward line, and now considering alternatives with Okerere high on their list.
Saints’ first-choice is Che Adams, but Birmingham have already turned down two big bids.

So far this summer, Hasenhuttl has added Mali winger Moussa Djenepo to his squad in a £14m move from Standard Liege.
Southampton have made a number of checks on Nigerian Under 23 international Okereke who scored 10 goals and set up 12 more in 30 appearances last season for Serie B side Spezia.
Okereke, 21, who is valued at around £12m, has also been linked in the past with West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Okereke is the one for the future after Afcon I see him drafting into the team. Good conversion rate technical dribber uses more sense with pace. Godwilling i see him making it
UNless he has an Italian passport, going to the EPL only to be loaned out because of work permit issues is not worth it and could stunt his career
Another solid potential! If we qualify for the Olympics are squad go be helele!
