Son of former Super Eagles right-back Jero Shakpoke, Ruben Shakpoke, has signed a professional contract at Premier League club Aston Villa.
This was confirmed in a statement released on Villa’s official website on Monday.
The young forward, 17, is a recent addition to the Academy having joined Aston Villa from Norwich City in October.
His start to life at the club has been slowed by injury but Academy Manager Mark Harrison says Villa will soon see the best of him.

He said: “We are delighted Ruben has signed his first professional contract with us.
“His game time has been hampered by injury but once he his back fully fit we look forward to him fulfilling his potential, which is very clear to see.”
Shakpoke, who has been called up by England at age group level, is currently part of the Under-18 squad, making his debut in an U18 Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur shortly after signing in October.
His dad, Jero, featured at the 1998 Carlsberg Cup four-nations tournament which the Super Eagles won in Hong Kong.
He missed the Eagles squad to the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France after sustaining a shoulder injury in a friendly against Holland.
