Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has apologised to the club’s fans for his team’s poor display in Sunday’s Premier League clash against Everton.
Manchester United lost 4-0 away to Everton. The defeat was their sixth in their last eight games.
Goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott ensured Everton move up to seventh in the standings.
The defeat was Manchester United’s sixth in their last eight matches as they fell further behind in the top four race.
“From the first whistle everything went wrong. I just want to apologise to the fans,”Solskjaer said in his post-match interview.
“They’re the only people with the badge on today who can hold their head high, because we can’t.”
“We just didn’t perform. That was not worthy of a Manchester United team. We hold our hands up and apologise to everyone associated with the club. We have a perfect chance to make amends on Wednesday [against Manchester City.”

Terrible week and terrible result for an awful United. And it doesn’t get easier. They face Man City on Wednesday in the Mancunian derby. From frying pan to fire? Another defeat in that game, and the fans may start calling for Solksjaer’s head.
