Jan Siewert has hailed the consistency of defender Christopher Schindler after he was named Huddersfield’s Player of The Year. Schindler has lifted the Hargreaves Memorial Trophy in each of the Terriers’ two seasons in the Premier League after standing firm at the back in a campaign to forget for the West Yorkshire club.

Having made 37 top-flight appearances last term, the German defender is in line to repeat the feat this time around if he features against Manchester United on Saturday and then Southampton on the final day of the season. He has missed just one match due to suspension and Siewert is big fan of his compatriot.
“Schindy is a terrific leader of the team, definitely,” he said. “He is very dependable, someone you can rely on.” Schindler and his team-mates will ply their trade in the Championship next season but he is no stranger to second-tier football, having spent six years in Bundesliga 2 with 1860 Munich. He also played 44 times during Town’s promotion season in 2016-17 and will hope to bring the good times back to the John Smith’s Stadium from August onwards.
