Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has stated that Manchester United must resolve Marcus Rashford’s future at the club as quickly as possible.
Shearer, 54, is the latest figure to weigh in on the growing tension between Rashford and United manager Ruben Amorim.
The 27-year-old forward has been excluded from the Red Devils’ squad for their last four matches, with Amorim confirming that the England international remains no closer to returning to the team.

Following his omission from United’s 2-1 derby victory over local rivals Manchester City, Rashford expressed his desire for a “new challenge,” and his exile has continued ever since.
According to The Mirror, Shearer believes that resolving Rashford’s situation is essential for the benefit of both parties, emphasising the importance of the club’s management supporting Amorim’s decisions.
“They have to back Amorim,” said Betfair ambassador Shearer. “They brought him in because things haven’t been anywhere near good enough, and he needs to sort out that mess.

“He has to be allowed to do what he wants, and the situation with Marcus Rashford will be resolved. Whether it’s sorted out in January, I guess both parties will reach an agreement. That’s part of the process of deciding who Amorim wants to move out of the club and who he wants to bring in.”
Rashford has struggled to replicate the form he showed during the 2022/23 season, when he scored 30 goals across all competitions. This season, he has managed only seven goals and three assists in 24 appearances.
