Denis Shapovalov says he’s preparing for the game of his life when he takes on legend Roger Federer in the Miami Open semi-finals. Swiss star Federer moved into the last four, where he will face Canadian starlet Shapvalov on Friday night, after outclassing Kevin Anderson 6-0 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

Shapovalov admits he’s excited to take on someone he idolises for the first time as he aims to mark his recent progress by claiming a huge scalp, securing his place in the final in the process.
“It’s a match-up I have been looking forward to my whole life, a high-stakes match against your idol. It’s just a dream come true,” said Shapovalov. “I will try and approach it like any other game, try and enjoy it, give it my all. It will be a difficult match but I am just happy to have a chance to play him.
” Shapovalov beat US youngster Frances Tiafoe 6-7 (5/7) 6-4 6-2 in the last eight to reach his third ATP Masters semi-final.
