Simeon Nwankwo and his Crotone teammates have officially being relegated to Serie B following Saturday’s 2-0 home loss to Inter Milan, Completesports.com reports.
Crotone only gained promotion to Italy’s top-flight last season but will now have to do battle in the second-tier next campaign.
Goals from Christian Eriksen and Achraf Hakimi’s goals put Inter on the verge of a first Serie A title in 11 years.
Going into Saturday’s game, Nwankwo has nine league goals and his joint-third in the top scorers chart behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku.
Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku both hit the post in the opening 45 minutes for Antonio Conte’s men as Crotone showed good resilience.
But the deadlock was broken midway through the second half when substitute Eriksen received Lukaku’s lay-off, with his drive deflecting off Lisandro Magallan past Alex Cordaz.
Lukaku thought he had doubled the lead after tapping home a fine move, only for it to be ruled out for offside against Ivan Perisic.
But Hakimi’s second in added time ensured his side will be confirmed champions if Atalanta fail to beat Sassuolo.

I don’t get all the rave about Simy. he’s on a crazy goal scoring form but we know he has scored 9 penalties this season but he doesn’t do much aside scoring (1 assist) …..he is only good with the ball without the ball he’s pretty much average…..for someone over 6’4 he has just one headed goal this season….Simy sometimes can be a predator in the box (I know) that why he’s very good at tap ins….Though Simy deserves a call up, I don’t think he’s good enough to get lots of minutes…..I’m watching him play against Inter…
I hope u have inner eyes. And the worst in that game could be 0 0. How I wish simmy is in inter. Napoli or Atlanta
@Jones Thanks for confirming what I have been saying since morning. After Simy’s stint with the SE, I have never watched him again anywhere…..but I have seen enough of him to adequately run an analysis on him
