Julian Savea appears to be heading for the Toulon exit door after being told by the club’s owner he is ‘no longer welcome’. Mourad Boudjellal has said that the All Black is ‘not the player’ he signed after another poor outing for the Top 14 side, and has told him he is free to find another club.
The owner has been quoted as saying: “I’m going to ask for a DNA test. I’ve told him he’s been released and he’s not welcome at Toulon. He’s got a year left on his contract, he can do what he wants.

“When we reach this level of play, we must apologize and leave (…) I told him he was released and he was no longer welcome in Toulon!”
The 28-year-old has only just joined Toulon after arriving from the Hurricanes at the end of the 2018 season, but he has struggled for form and been heavily criticised by the supporters.
It now remains to be seen if Boudjellal will carry out his threat and banish Savea from the club, or whether he will be handed another chance.
