Jessica Harrington has confirmed Sandymount Duke will miss Saturday’s Grand National after picking up “a knock”.
The 72-year-old trainer had hoped to lead the outsider, who carries the colours of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, into the Aintree showpiece on Saturday.
However, Harrington revealed that the 10-year-old has suffered a slight injury and will not be risked this weekend.

She said: “He’s given himself a knock and unfortunately he won’t be running at Aintree. “It’s disappointing for us and Ronnie, but what will be will be.”
Despite the disappointment surrounding Sandymount Duke, Harrington should have a first-ever runner in the Grand National in the shape of Magic Of Light. She added: “She is an intended runner and is in great form.”
