Southampton have been knocked back in their hopes of seeing midfielder Adam Lallana return to St Mary’s this summer. The Liverpool playmaker has endured a tough time with injuries at Anfield and, with one year remaining on his deal with the Reds, there has been some speculation about the England international’s future on Merseyside.

A return to Southampton had been mooted but Lallana has no plans to leave the European champions this summer. “Yeah. Absolutely no question about it. I couldn’t be happier here, winning Champions Leagues,” he said. “I know my ability and I know what I can give.
And the gaffer and his staff and the recruitment guys have all made it clear they know I have a big part to play with what’s to come next, so I’m buzzing with that. “No question my future is here and I can’t wait for what’s next.”
