Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq has joined Serie B side, Perugia on a six months loan deal after his Glasgow Rangers spell was cut short reports Completesports.com.
Sadiq becomes the second Nigerian at the club after Kingsley Micheal joined last summer from on a season loan from Bologna.
The 21-year-old was impressive for NAC Breda in the second half of the Eredivisie season the last term scoring five goals in 12 games but struggled to settle in Scotland.
The Nigerian managed just 161 minutes of football over five competitive games this season.
He joins another Nigerian, Ovie Ejiara cut short his loan spell at Rangers to return to Liverpool.
Sadiq only played four times for Rangers and started just once, which was a disastrous showing against Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup.
The former Bologna and Torino lanky striker joined Roma in the 2015/2016 season but has so far failed to establish himself as a regular for the Serie A club.
Sadiq’s exit from Rangers will free up space for Steven Gerard to bring in another striker to support Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Laffery in January.
Recall that Sadiq was a member of Nigeria’s U-23 side to the 2016 Olympics in Brazil that won bronze. He scored four goals in the competition.
Perugia are currently ninth in the Serie B log with 26 points from 18 games.
The AS Roma loanee could make his debut for Perugia when they host Brescia on the 19th of January at the Renato Curi stadium.
