Roundup: Awaziem Debuts, Omeruo Absent, Chukwueze Benched As Villarreal Thrash Leganes; Akpom Scores In PAOK Away Win

Chidozie Awaziem made his debut for Leganes who lost 3-0 at home to Samuel Chukwueze’s Villarreal in their LaLiga clash on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.

Awaziem’s Nigeria teammate,Kenneth Omeruo,was however not listed in the Leganes’ matchday squad.

Super Eagles youngster, Samuel Chukwueze was benched for the entire duration of the game after previously featured in Villarreal’s opening three league games of the campaign.

Awaziem played the entire duration of the match, but would have wished for a good result to mark his first game for the Mauricio Pellegrino’s team.

Gerard Moreno’s double and a Jonathan Silva’s own goal gave Villarreal a comfortable away victory at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

Completesports.com earlier reported that Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi scored in West Brom’s 1-1 draw at Fulham.

In another English Championship game later on Saterday, Oghenekaro Etebo was subbed on in the 63rd minute for Thomas Ince in Stoke City’s home defeat to Brostol City.

In Greece, Chuba Akpom was on target in champions PAOK’s 3-2 away win against Atromitos.

Akpom opened scoring for PAOK in the 17th minute – his second goal of the season for the club.

Anderson Esiti was also in action for PAOK in the game. The midfielder was replaced by El Kaddouri in the 61st minute.

In the Russian Premier League, Brian Idowu was benched for 90 minutes in Locomotiv Moscow away win at Sochi.

Idowu has played three out Locomotiv’s nine league games this season.
