Former Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has backed the team to secure a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the expense of the Black Stars of Ghana, reports Completesports.com.
The Super Eagles will host their perenial rivals in the second leg of the playoffs at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday (today).
The two teams battled to a 0-0 draw in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi last week Friday.
Rohr lamented the absence of Alex Iwobi, who is suspended for the game, but insisted the Super Eagles have the quality to beat the Ghanaians.

“Nigerians missing Iwobi is not good, he is very good at giving incisive passes…“I will tip Nigeria to win 2-1,” Rohr told Accra-based Angel FM.
“Ghana have players for counter-attacks, so if they want to qualify they must use that and make sure they don’t concede.”
The last time Nigeria hosted Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers was in July 2001 and the Super Eagles emerged 3-0 winners in Port Harcourt.
The two teams had drawn 0-0 in the reverse fixture in Accra and the Super Eagles went on to qualify for the 2002 edition in South Korea, and Japan.

Rohr….great guy, regardless
Ghanaians players are not playing fair, it was reported that the reason they stadium management switched off the lights was because they were putting juju on the field, why are Ghanaians this biabolica at Kumasi you were using black charm at our home too you are putting juju on it, you lack sense all of you, and IJN we shall win. Festish stuffs is in your culture and blood. This is the link to read the story.
Don’t believe everything you read boy!
Expecially from own goal
It’s is only own goal that’s reporting it
“Ghana have players for counter – attacks”
that is how to analyse opponent strength and weekness but our own is just to tell players to use flanks and express themselves on the field even if it is not working .
Lol…… Our coach Na boardmass master. Chess master…. Lol… Abeg, make una bring us better coach as soon as we qualify for world cup. This one no go lead us anywhere.
Spot on Ex..
I feel the main reason iheanacho completed that game in the first leg was bcos there was no like-for-like replacement plus the blunder of taking off Aribo.
Shud’ve taken off kelz instead and brought on a CM.
Let’s correct that today and shut these guys up.
I so love that they are beginning to get carried away by a drab draw at home to the mighty SE
Removing Aribo was a very big blunder. I don’t know how these coaches think
We really miss Iwobi. I have said it before.
But it is quite funny that even if he were around, Eguaveon very likely will not play him going by how he rarely used him at the last AFCON. Eguaveon doesn’t know what he has and how to use it to maximum. And that is his bane
Nawa ooo this is running in their blood no doubt. But with their fetish practises they supposed to have won world cup and excel in other competitions they engaged in. Juju does not play or win matches i wonder why they did not win at home. Boastful and arrogant country.
Rohr is just trying to tell us Ghana’s game plan and the little rejig needed in our midfield. Quite unfortunate Alexander Iwobi is not available. But to me the other player that can also give that incisive pass is Amoo. Whether he gets a look-in, we wait and see.
I remember the last time we played against Ghana in a World Cup qualifier.
They made it look like they were coming for war.
They refused to stay in the hotel booked for them and went instead to another hotel.
They brought their own cooks and their food from Ghana. They even brought their own water with them and refused to drink our water.
It was as if they were afraid we were going to poison them.
I was scared we were going to lose the game because of the determination the Ghanaians had.
But just a few minutes after the game started, Tijani Bbangida had scored our first goal. He went on to score a hatrick as we won by 3 goals to nothing.
All their “gragra” was for nothing.
I hope today will be a repeat of that game.
Up Super Eagles!
Thanks rohr for all your good works. You really did make us competitive again.
BOSS don’t worry (underground) we are still fighting for your REINSTATEMENT.
They are still studying the CASE in COURT
In your dream.

@kel, thanks for the video. That is the last World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Ghana.
Please take a second look at the crowd. The stadium was filled to capacity. I hope Abuja fans will be able replicate the atmosphere the Port-harcout fans created in that game.
We look forward to a good outing tonight.
They will if Fulani Bokoharam will not try to blow them up!!!
Best of luck 9ja
