Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is happy to see his side come out with a win against Lesotho in Sunday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group L matchday-two fixture at the Setsoto Stadium, Maseru, reports Completesports.com.
The hosts stunned the three-time African champions when they took the lead through Nkoto Masoabi in the 11th minute.
The Super Eagles however rallied back through goals from Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukuweze and Victor Osimhen who netted a brace.
Rohr also praised the opponents for their brave efforts in the game.
“I want to thank Lesotho people for their hospitality. We know it will be difficult to play here [Maseru], Lesotho gave us a lot of troubles,” Rohr told a news conference.
“We are happy with the win. It put us in a good position to qualify for the competition.”
The West Africans who have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four matches top Group L on six points from two games.
The Squirrels of Benin who defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 also on Sunday are second in the group with three points. Sierra Leone and Lesotho occupy third and fourth positions respectively with a point each.

Thank you very much Mr Rohr humble. Continue to prove all doubters wrong
There are no longer inferior teams, I never expected Lesotho to play the way they did. They played quite well but thanks to God we were able to pull out a fine result away from home. Good job gaffer, keep disappointing Omo9ja

He made all his substitutions before 75mins which is good. If he had done like that he would have won against Messi in Russia 2018 and made history. Rohr should learn and stick to early second half substitution that is what we have been complaining about in his style of coaching. Haven’t you seen the result today from early and timely substitution? He should also know that the best form of defense is to attack from there you have plenty goals in a match. Completesports should be quiet on clean sheet so that they do not encourage this coach to go back to defensive style of play which is not our Nigerian style of football.
Beautiful football from Super eagles!!!
