Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr says his team must cut out mistakes in their game if they are to secure a place in the semifinals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations at the expense of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa,
Completesports.com reports.
The Super Eagles will face the South Africans in their quarterfinal duel at the
Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday. Kick-off is 8pm Nigerian time.
The West Africans have looked particularly shaky in defence with Leon Balogun committing a blunder which led to the first goal conceded by the side in the shock 2-0 loss to Madagascar.
There were traces of same problem in the 3-2 second round win against perennial rivals Cameroon last Saturday at the Alexandria Stadium.
Rohr is hopeful his side will put up a solid display against the South Africans and advance to the semifinals.
“We played against South Africa in the qualifiers and it was difficult for us. To beat them, we have to be strong and avoid some of the mistakes we made in our previous games,” Rohr told Completesports.com.
“At this stage of the competition, it is important to have total concentration and avoid little mistakes.
“I hope we can produce a better performance from our previous games and also progress into the semi-final. ”

Nice one , coachee, keeping yr head low as usual, not allowing pride and arrogance to take centre stage whilst sending a deceptive signal to your opponents that will make them feel stronger than u but in the real sense if it, ur arsenal is already ready, armed to the brim to fire non stop until victory us achieved. It’s called strategy and not weakness. I wonder why odegbami (the ex cricket international) has not written another useless article since the past couple of days. Could it be that the ink in his pen has finished or his computer hard disk crashed or is he lying in wait for team to slip so that he can unleash his psychopathic venom again? Bad news is, the team will churn out another good result again on Wednesday. U can’t bring down someone who God has blessed no matter how hard u try. U set ur evil traps, he’ll just walk around them and escape. I’m sorry mr ex cricket international, u and ur clan shall be disappointed and put to shame again. Up eagles, up great coach rohr, never say die!!
I don’t see any rationality in this ur incessant attacks on the legendary Odegbami. I suggest it’s high time u get over it and concentrate on celebrations ahead… it’s called positivity. Those critics actually also played their roll in ensuring resurgence for our team. Though some were over board with their negativity.
Cheers!
The same way u don’t see the rationality in my attacks against him is the same way I don’t see the rationality against his insane attacks mr rohr and his team. Thank u acknowledged that most of the attacks against mr rohr were over board. Shalom
******The same way u don’t see the rationality in my attacks against him is the same way I don’t see the rationality behind his insane attacks on mr rohr and his team. Thank goodness u acknowledged that most of the attacks against mr rohr were over board. Shalom
I understand my brother but let’s move on,embrace everyone cos together we win
..peace!!!
Honestly, He needs to tender an unreserved apology to that man (mr rohr) otherwise, nemesis would catch up with him as it is already happening. Move on we already have but I’m just saying it as it is. Millions of people all over the world must have read that piece of shit against a man who has done so much for this country. The only coach who has a better record of achievement in the history of Nigerian football is Clemens westerhorf, just look at how much he has achieved over a short period of time. If he thinks coaching is that easy, I wonder why he hasn’t taken up a job to coach one of our football teams make we see how he’ll perform and not sitting in the comfort of his toilet and be writing utter crap!!!! In fact,i challenge him to take up the u17 job, make we see how he’ll perform with small boys. Nonsense! I dy vex for him biiig time!
Odegbami will definitely say trash because he’s an agent and most of them has been unable to impose their client on the coach as it’s being done before and that’s a bad market to him and other agents
I firmly believe that Rohr is a good coach, if you don’t appreciate him some one else will, as you prefer playing good foot ball and losing. There many good West African countries with players who would like to go to the World Cup like Mali, Ivory Coast so if you sack him you deserve what you get and go a heard and get some one to play attractive football.
Nigeria will beat SA
The afcon 2019 have leave upto expectation in terms of quality, no minor in African soccer anymore, if we look at the manner Lalaina of madagasta score what i term (the goal of the tournament) so far, u guys will agree with me, if we can just build on our confidence while facing the European and south American teams, I believe sooner or later an African team we feature in the world cup semi final and even win it, am impress with the play so far but far less with the spectators, the stadium are near empty ,u hardly see any local fans in the stand, unlike what we use to see in Europe soccer.
