Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez has described his return to the Bernabeu as a “unique feeling” after Saturday’s draw. The Colombian has spent the last two years away from the club on loan with Bayern Munich after falling down the pecking order with Los Blancos.
However, the Bundesliga side opted not to make the move a permanent one and instead sent him back to Madrid in favour of signing Phillipe Coutinho from Barcelona on loan.

Rodriguez’s future has been up in the air this summer and he has been linked with moves to Napoli and Atletico Madrid.
However, following injury concerns to other players, Rodriguez played in their 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid.
He was replaced after 57 minutes, in a match that Gareth Bale played the full 90 minutes.
Despite the disappointment of the result, Rodriguez said he was very happy to be back playing for Los Blancos. “Back at the Bernabeu after a long time,” he wrote on Twitter post-match. “It was a unique feeling. Thanks to the fans for the support. “We will continue to work in order to improve.”
Eden Hazard was missing from the squad entirely through injury, while Luka Jovic only came off the bench.
