Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers refused to blame Kelechi Iheanacho after the forward missed from the spot in the club’s1-1 away draw at Crystal Palace on Monday, reports Completesports.com.
Iheanacho had a first-half penalty saved by Vicente Guaita and when Wilfred Zaha fired the hosts ahead, it looked as if the visitors will return home empty handed.
However, Barnes’ eighth goal of the season in the 83rd minute salvaged a draw as the hosts bounced back from heavy defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa with a point.

“I said at half time, it was one you have to let go of. He practised yesterday and hit five out of five, so he was confident, but it is just one of those things,”Rodgers told Amazon Prime after game.
Iheanacho featured for 72nd minutes in the game before he was replaced by Demarai Gray.
The Nigeria international has made eight league appearances for the Foxes this season and is yet to open his goal account.

Kelechi should be banned from taking any penalty whatsoever in any game. He just don’t know how to score even if there is nobody on the goal post defending. l strongly suspect that Kelechi might v’ been partially defected in his eyesight or something. Millions of Nigerians around the Globe watched with great shock how he missed a very crucial penalty against Tunisia a couple of months ago. How come the Team allowed him to take such important penalty at such a match baffled most of fans.
Iheanacho with the talent that he possesses is not showing enough hunger to be considered a capable replacement for aging Vardy which is a shame……reverse should be the case where Vardy should be the one being benched by Kelechi.
I m not sure he had a personal trainer .
My brother Iheanancho go be Vardy age mate even if e no senior ham. Let’s be honest, that is the best he can offer himself not us, Iheanancho can not play better than what he’s playing now. Any dreaming expectation will put his fans in jeopardy.
I hope our coaches watched the match yesterday. Nancho cannot play penalty for us anymore. Also, he is not a clinical finisher.
This is what you get when you stay too long in a place as backup. The beginning of last season when he got his scoring form back, we expected him to push for a club where he will play regularly and start, but he was too comfortable as backup to Vardy. Now he has lost the confidence to lead the lines. The likes of Osimhen, Awoniyi went to lower clubs to sort themselves now they are performing at the top.
I believe it is not late still, he can still sort himself and play for another club
U people come here and talk rubbish. What confidence do u expect d guy to exhibit? He has been on bench for over a month with cameo appearance of few minutes. You can’t expect such player to do better than that.
He is not as old as vardy unfortunately.Vardy is 33,iheanacho is not that old.Someone that played local youth tournaments with him said he is about 28 now and I have every reason to believe him because I know Etebo personally and I know he is likely not even up to that. The problem with our present day footballers is not really age.Its more of maintaining the required drive and motivation after tasting affluence.I do not even blame them so much because considering the level of hardship in Africa, most of us will not do much better in their shoes.
True talk, managing affluence is a problem for most of our players and indeed for most Africans…. His career took a downturn as soon as he began to earn the big bucks, clubbing, attending shows with celebrities, and other unfortunate vices crept in and of course the malicious feeling of ‘I don try na, who for my lineage don achieve ds kind success’… It’s time for him to up his game, move to another club and make something of his life!!!
