Three-time Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Barr. Chris Green has expressed shock over the death of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s father.
Nwabali confirmed the death of his father with a tearful emoji on his Instagram page.
“Rest In Peace Dad.”
Reacting to the sad news, Green condoled with the Chippa United first choice over the sad loss.
“Nwabali is not just a great ambassador of Rivers State and Nigeria but also a fantastic footballer who has grown in leaps and bounds in the service of his motherland.
“This is a young Man I’ve taken as a Son so you could imagine my shock to learn of the sad passing of his (Nwabali’s) father and I wish to send my love, support and message of condolences to our dear son, Stanley Nwabali, on behalf of the good people of Rivers State.”
Nwabali was in action for the Super Eagles against Benin Republic, in Thursday’s Group D AFCON 2025 qualifiers in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
He conceded his first goal in the qualifiers after Mohamed Tijani put Benin ahead in the first half.
