There is greatness in humility. Luka Modrić is the greatest midfield orchestrator of our time. He is such an effective leader with un unmatched commitment to the sport we love so much. He lets his silky skills and technical astuteness speak for him on the field. I salute the Croatian gentle giant. Kudos on the renewal of your contract for another year. Our rising stars have a lot to learn from this role model and Ambassador of World Football.¡Viva Luca!
And it must be said that for Real Madrid to offer him a one year extension at the age of 37, an age when most footballers have hung up their boots, speaks to his work ethic and professionalism. Real Madrid will not extend the contract of someone who will not contribute to their efforts to dominate La Liga and Europe.
I recall his performance against Nigeria at the 2018 mundial. Modric and Rakitic schooled us in the midfield, effortlessly pulling the strings. It was clear that we were in trouble because of these 2 guys. And they deservedly beat us 2 nil. The gulf in class, especially in the midfield, was just too much for us to cope with.
A brilliant, hard working midfielder on the pitch. Focused, committed, highly professional attitude.
Indeed one of the best midfielders to ever play the game.
