Scottish Premiership side, Rangers have announced that Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun is set to depart from the club following the expiration of his contract.
The 33 year old has had relatively reduced game time this season after Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s emergence as coach.
Balogun leaves the club after two years at Ibrox winning the league title two seasons ago with Steven Gerrard as coach and winning the Scottish Cup last season.
He also reached the Europa Cup final losing to Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany.
Goalkeeper Andy Firth is also leaving the Gers this summer after joining the club in 2019.
Rangers made the announcement on their Twitter handle.
“Rangers can today confirm that @Leon Balogun and @andyfirth1996 will depart the club following the expiration of their contracts. Everyone at the club wishes Leon and Andy well for the next move in their career,” the Tweet read.
Rangers subsequently put up a Tweet celebrating Balogun with a video highlighting his key moments at the club.
“Forever Blue @LeonBalogn leaves a a Ranger with everyone at Ibrox wishing him well for the next move in his career,” the club Tweeted.
Balogun scored two goals from 37 games played for Rangers last season.

What’s wrong with all these clubs self? That was how Feyenoord treated dessers. Players that lifted them to final suddenly became surplus.
Its simple, they don’t consider dessers good enough
Dessers did not help himself in that game against Ecuador. he missed 2 glaring goals which he could have buried. He is not so good after all. He now goes back to Gent where Onuuachu reign supreme. He stays on the bench and watch the newly married Onunachu do his thing.
A foreign born player that scored in his first international start does not deserve this level of criticism. He was the fans’ darling bride when he scored against Mexico few days ago. He out shined many top internationals on the the Europa League scoring chart, including the much celebrated Tammy Abraham. I know we all wish to see our darling Super Eagles soaring very high again. Nigerian football fans needs more level of patience and tolerance. Enough of this “Hossanah today, crucify tomorrow”
