Rangers, that use to parade Super Eagles stars Leon Balogun, Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo, were left with the worst ever Champions League group stage record after their 3-1 defeat to Ajax at Ibrox on Tuesday night.
The Scottish giants were back in the Champions League after a 12-year absence but ended up losing twice to Ajax, Liverpool and Napoli.
Rangers conceded 22 times and scored only twice for a goal difference of -20 – which is the worst of any side who have lost all six matches in the history of the competition.
Having started with a 4-0 defeat in the Netherlands, Rangers lost 3-0 at home to Napoli and 2-0 at Anfield before scoring their first goal in game four.
Scott Arfield’s strike came before Liverpool scored seven in Scotland, with a 3-0 defeat in Italy followed by the 3-1 Ajax loss this week in which James Tavernier scored a penalty.

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst was understandably disappointed by the performance in their last group game, as well as the six games as a whole.
“To compete against Ajax we needed to have the pressure moments but we weren’t able to create those moments. We lacked a little bit of energy to keep pressing high,” he told BT Sport.
“Well, they had six days off – their league is thinking about their players. They played their last game on Wednesday and they come here really fresh.
“We, of course, we played a game and have some injuries. We tried but these are teams that are competing for several years at this level. It’s our first after 12 years.”
