Southampton’s Ralph Hasenhuttl admits he is glad the Premier League is back on the agenda ahead of Saturday’s trip to Brighton. The FA Cup and international break mean Saints have not played since beating Tottenham 2-1 on March 9 and the Austrian has clearly found the hiatus frustrating.

Hasenhuttl’s side begin the weekend 16th in the table, two points clear of the relegation places and a win at Brighton would see them take another step towards their survival goal. With eight potentially crucial games to go, the 51-year-old is keen to ensure his team hit the ground running when they head east along the A27 for Saturday’s clash.
“We’re happy that this break is over now,” said Hasenhüttl. “For the guys, it’s good to have this focus on the game at the weekend. It’s a different kind of motivation. “It’s the last eight games now and we know how important they are. It’s good that we can start being focused for them.”
