Four members of this Brazil squad were in the under 17 world cup in Nigeria 2009.Allision, Coutinho, Neymar and Casimiro. Where are our own players that placed second in that competition? Where is little Messi?
The question is how many of them ever got to debut for the SE…..just Stanley Okoro, Ramon Azeez, Onazi and Omeruo. The last 2 gave us about 3-4 good years and stopped being o any good use afterwards.
These are the overaged football accolades we celebrate to the high heavens but which yield nothing for us in the long term.
Celestine Babayaro, Mikel, wilson oruma, Kanu etc. These are just the few players who went from representing us at the under 17 to be among the long stay se material during their prime.
The set of 2007 under 17, were the most disappointing set. Hope was very high for this set transforming into very strong se material, but guess what ? Even the under 20 fifa world of 2009 which many of that glorious under 17 of 2007 team represented Nigeria ended in distaster. Lookman was deem as a replacement of Jayjay back then.
Where are the plyers today?
