Maduka Okoye has declared his intention to reclaim his position as Super Eagles number one shot stopper
Okoye was Super Eagles’ first choice goalkeeper at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The 25-year-old however lost his place in the team after committing a blunder in the Super Eagles Round of 16 clash against Tunisia.

The Udinese shot stopper was overlooked for around two years before earning a recall into team.
Okoye has now said he wishes to reclaim the No 1 jersey.
“Yeah of course this is what I want, but Stanley (Nwabali) set a high point with a great AFCON, so I’m just patiently waiting, and trying to do my best in training and impress the staff as much as possible,” he told Football Temple.

Rguavoen should please not field Nwabali for both legs. Especially if we win the first leg in Uyo, he should please play Okoye in Tripoli. Reports say he was the best in training of the 3.
Bunch of lies, who is giving you such report? Why shouldn’t the coach field Nwabali in goal. Would the story be the same if Nwabali had gone on a break, would you honestly beg the coach to let Nwabali come in his place. I will keep repeating it, he had the position on a platter of gold and felt indispensable. Where was he during the qualifiers, when we needed him most ( still having mental breakdown). How are we so sure he is ready mentally to man the post for the national team. Only 3 things will see him get his spot back.
1. Bribe his way back
2. Have his defense line sabotage a game
3. Have Nwabali injured.
We can have the best of two worlds. Who said two people cannot both be number one’s? I am tired of myopic thinking in Nigeria. A dynamic forward-thinking person must have a plan B. Suppose your plan A fails,
would you vanish into oblivion?
The SE should get two top goal keepers from whom the coach can simply throw a dice and pick any of them to man the post. With this approach, we won’t be caught scratching our heads for a goalkeeper when a crisis looms its head. The time to actualise this plan is now with a relatively low-risk, though high-stake match like this one. First field Okoye in the home game, where the crowd would probably be the 12th player. Field the rugged Nwabali in Tripoli. The reverse could also be done if the coach had already made up his mind to play Nwabali, provided we win the first match.
Please tell us where this your suggestion is being carried out, both country and club? Plan B can only be implemented if plan A fails. So right now Plan A hasn’t failed. England parades 3 top goalkeepers, when did you ever hear Southgate throwing a dice to pick any of the 3.

For me, I am just happy we are now spoilt for choice in the goalkeeping department of the Super Eagles after haemorrhaging for sometime.
Third and fourth choices Amas Obasogie and Olorunleke Ojo can confidently hold their own if called upon.
I think Francis Uzoho has some goodwill with powerful people in the NFF. But, even those shadowy NFF people will now struggle to justify the invitation of Uzoho (who has made zero appearance for his club in 6 games this season) ahead of highly gifted and sharper options.
Adebayo Adeleye, who failed to impress former Super Eagles coaches, is actually doing better when it comes to clocking game-time in club football to be sharp. He has kept in all six games for his club in Cyprus this season, conceding 12 goals in that time. But, playing in Cyprus division 2 is seen as a negative in the eyes of many fans.
However, if we can invite Rwanda, Somalia and Sudan based goalkeepers as number 3 in the Super Eagles, then I struggle to see how we can slam Adeleye based on the calibre of his league.
For me, the fact Adeleye is first choice goalkeeper in his club should punch enough tickets to warrant his involvement and invitation to the Super Eagles.
All in all, I am just happy that the Super Eagles department is in safe hands with a formation that offers ample protection.
He never grease the palm of the right people. They were once calling a similar keeper from Cyprus that doesn’t play, but yet another from Cyprus can’t be called upon.
Should Eguavoen play Okoye he will have himself to blame. I am saying this because Okoye still has a problem with conceding embarrassing goals like his mentor Onana. I am not saying Okoye is a bad goal keeper but not all goalkeeper should play in the national team, infact he is blessed to be selected.
