Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister has heaped plaudits on Leon Balogun following the Nigerian performance in Sunday’s 1-0 win against rivals Celtic.
Balogun was deployed as a right-back in the game and successfully shut out Celtic new signing Kyogo Furuhashi .
The 33-year-old was rightly named man of the match after the encounter at the Ibrox Stadium.
Filip Helander netted the winning goal for the Gers in the 66th minute.

“You would have to say Leon was obviously signed here as a centre-back but he’s very much in our thoughts as a third-choice right-back,” McAllister told the club’s official website.
“I thought today [Saturday] he handled it and he showed defensively that he is very capable of playing there against a difficult opponent – it was a proper man’s performance.
“I know it is something Graeme Souness uses a lot, but that was a proper man’s performance.”

Proper man’s performance indeed.
Against Celtic, Balogun was like a wall in that right back position.
Dude was like Gandalf – YOU SHALL NOT PASS.
Anybody that tried to get thru his wing was brought to a halt with a well timed tackle.
Deserved MOM in my opinion.
