One half of the Psquare duo Peter Okoye popularly known as Mr P and former Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen have sent messages of support to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen is looking at taking legal action against his club Serie A outfit Napoli due to a video mocking him after missing a penalty against Bologna on Sunday.
The aforementioned match ended in a 0-0 draw which continued the team from Naples’ winless streak.
Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda issued a statement condemning the action of the club.
“What happened on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then but now belatedly deleted,” the statement reads.
“A serious fact that causes damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.
“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
Mr P took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle to send heart-warming messages to the 24-year-old.
“Value yourself and don’t let anyone bully you my brother! You’re an asset and we are with you 100% @victorosimhen9 Remain blessed always,” he posted.
Eguavoen posted a video of Osimhen’s highlights for Nigeria with a simple message on the same platform.
“@VictorOsimhen9 ONE OF OUR OWN,” the Tweet reads.
The European nation of Italy has had a history of racist antics and bullying online and during matches.
Osimhen has scored three goals in five Serie A appearances in the 2023/24 season.
Napoli are seventh on the Serie A table with eight points after five games in the division.
The Partenopei will play Udinese on Wednesday, September 27 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The Naples based club have won the Serie A title three times (1986/87 1989/90 and 2022/23).
