Taiwo Awoniyi scored on his full Premier League debut as Nottingham Forest defeated West Ham United 1-0 at the City Ground on Sunday.
Awoniyi netted the winning goal late in the first half.

Taiwo Awoniyi started, which is a good sign. He was active and had a couple chances in the first half, it was exciting to watch. But it then got silly, started looking like Álvaro Morata or Timo Werner with a lot of missed chances. You can tell the difference from the bundesliga and the premier league. Awoniyi could beat out players in the bundesliga, but in the premier league defenders were on him. I mean my gosh, in the 70th minute when Awoniyi was running with the ball Zouma caught up to him easily. I mean think of burnley under Sean Dyche floated above relegation all the time, but one of the top teams to conceded few goals. Awoniyi got his goal from an error when Lingard tried to pass it to him but #2 on west ham intercepted it, but kicked it to Awoniyi. Im still upset he left a team that was in a uefa competition just to the premier league on a newly promoted team with no uefa games that will benefit the national team.
If the team can reach a uefa competition at the end of the season, that will be good. Dennis and Awoniyi I could possible see them like a Salah and Sane combo. I mean the team had a complete overhaul, at least 14 new players in and 4 more to come. This team is building for the future, better not get relegated because watford did the same thing signed a bunch of new players and still got relegated.
Nottingham forest has good players they’re comfortable with the ball against a top 7 team in the premiership.
They play with confidence and always on the front foot.
They will play in the premiership next season, they’re that good
I think Awonyi really did well today and this is corroborated by report on the match culled from allnigeriasoccer web;
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Zola said : “Awoniyi has been the most dangerous player for Nottingham Forest. Previously he had a couple of chances in which he did very well. He performed well”.
Hoddle added : “Everything in that first half has been about the big centre-forward. He has been brilliant and what a way to start in your new club”.
Awoniyi received a standing ovation from the Nottingham Forest fans as he made way for Sam Surridge in the 72nd minute.
Good news.
Congratulation.
He will get better with time. He needs to experience a different culture, play in a higher league, face top class defenders, taste a different kind of style of football. After a season in the EPL, he will be good for it
It was a CHEAP GOAL…

SMH….
Instead of turning to KURUMA(someone with SPEECH IMPEDIMENT), giving THUMBS DOWN and just WALKING AWAY, why not explain(like INTELLECTUALS) why the GOAL shouldn’t be called a CHEAP GOAL..(it shows that am right from all INDICATIONS, but was just too BOLD with my COMMENT)

Na wa o my BROTHER where is the NEGATIVITY there now?
I just gave my OPINION on the GOAL..
He also enters the record book as the scorer of their first premier league goal after 23 years.
That one na NORMAL thing
Till date SADIO MANE remains the one with the FASTEST HAT TRICK in the PREMIER LEAGUE..
So RECORD are BOUND to be CREATED BRO
Awoniyi scores! No points for artistic merit, but in a tight game like this, all that matters is that the ball ends up in the old onion bag. Well done, Awoniyi. Congrats to NF for their FIRST PREMIER LEAGUE GOAL IN 23 YEARS!
Na TODAY WE dey follow FOOTBALL?
Have WE not SEEN very TIGHT GAME that PLAYERS come out with STUNNING GOALS as the WINNER??
Congratulations TAIWO AWONIYI!! KEEP MAKING US PROUD!!
Who scored a goal today? Dem say na one Nigerian boy. Ok o. Make we dey score Until we meet South Africa
Nice to be on the score sheet bro….I think forest has a fighting chance to remain in the EPL with their style of play…..Awoniyi will certainly score a lot of goals this season but the main reason he was signed was to spear head forest’s attack and to be a focal point of the team of which Am glad he he did just that today going on to add a goal to it…… Anyone that downplays Awoniyi’s goal is satanic and should not be on a Nigerian football site commenting.
Awo made Nigerians proud today. Monkey made the mouth sawa. Monkey, are you a Ghanaian or what? You certainly sound like them.
Awo, congratulations my young man. Continue.
A good weekend for Nigerian strikers
