Ethan Nwaneri got good rating in Arsenal’s penalty shootout win against Bournemouth in their first pre-season game in the early hours of Thursday.
Nwaneri was one of four academy players to start the game, and did not look out of place which is a big sign of encouragement.
The 17-year-old continued to enhance his reputation as Arsenal commenced their pre-season tour of USA with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth before prevailing on penalties.
Arsenal took the lead courtesy of Fabio Vieira’s superb volley but Bournemouth equalized after substitute Omar Rekik lost the ball in midfield to allow Antoine Semenyo to drive forward and deflect a shot off Ben White over Karl Hein.
The game was then decided on penalty shootout with Arsenal going on to beat Bournemouth 5-4.
Following his impressive performance for Mikel Arteta’s men, Nwaneri was rated six out of 10 in the ratings by Football.London.
Commenting on Nwaneri’s display, Football.London wrote: “A little quiet but showed his ability with an effort.”
Nwaneri would hope to get another opportunity to showcase himself when Arsenal take on Manchester United on Saturday.
